Drone footage shows resurfaced Phoenix moored at Phuket pier

I have often wondered, looking at the catamarans servicing Koh Samui and Phangan: are passenger numbers and weights based upon Asian bodies, and - how many backpacks would it take to exceed the weight limit.

Its very possible 3 backpacks could equal one passenger (60kg).

  • How in the world did they fit 50 people inside that boat? Did they hire a Japanese train pusher?  50 people? Easily on such a boat!

  • Agreed.  Also, notice how the vessel is all closed in (although the windows are now broken in or removed).   When she topples over, everyone is trapped inside, it floods, and inside a minut

  • Not sure the relatives of the dead will be pleased to see this coffin dragged up????

I think we were all a bit confused by the media coverage at the time. Two Russians were also rescued from a jet ski the time.

This is the footage I remember seeing:

I now believe the video was taken inside a rescue boat belonging to LoveAndaman, and is not one of the vessels that sank. Their logo can be seen on the crew lifejackets. It is one of those extra large speedboats. The crew are very bravely pulling in, even leaping into the water, to get survivors. These survivors can be seen inside the boat after rescue.

In the beginning of the video this boat is shown to be sinking. It's not the Phoenix, so I presume the Senerita.

That's not the interior footage I am think about. Yes, I saw all this. And yes I thought sinking video was of the Phoenix as headlined in a news report.

But there was another video inside an enclosed area. Most of these videos posted on social medium quickly disappeared.
