Does K-Bank charge you fees if you make a deposit in Pattaya while having your main branch being in BKK? And what about internet banking, if your main branch is in BKK and you transfer to another K-Bank with a branch in Pattaya?

Yes for deposits.  Not sure about their transfer fees.

How much do they charge if you deposit in another province?

I think all Thai banks charge a commission for counter transactions done at branches of their own bank outside the city where the account is hosted. My experience with Bangkok Bank is I can do a free counter transaction at any branch in Pattaya as the account is hosted at their main branch on 2nd @ 6. If I do a counter transaction at any Udon Thani branch where I now live,  there's a fee. I have used PromptPay on their BuaLuang online banking with no extra charges. Their online banking allows (I think) 5 free transactions per month before they add a service charge to the transaction.

I got charged 100 B. by K-bank.
It seems the retail banks have a problem making money, and rip customers off wherever they can.
I took some money from an out of province expired fixed term savings account, (got charged about a thousand Baht plus accrued interest) and deposited part of it back on the checking account at the cost of 100 B.

Great customer service !
So glad to be closing that account down next time I'll be in the other province, and transfer it to another bank close to where I live now.

Before we all go gallivanting off about these 'rip-off' charges, have a look at the regular service charges for similar inter-branch and inter-state transactions in the UK, US or wherever you hail from.

In the above instance, 100 baht is a whopping £2.40 which pales against the regular fees levied by high street bank branches in the UK for a somewhat convoluted money shuffle. BTW, I think the OP is more interested in the charges for the more basic current account to current account transaction.

For me, the charge of around 50 p that Bangkok Bank 'rips' out my hand when I do an out-of-province transaction is not too much for the sheer convenience of it. I mean I could always drive, fly or catch a bus to the home branch and save me some serious money now couldn't I?

In the US & UK they also charge you for sending money interstate from when usinng the same bank on both ends, or withdraw from an ATM in another state using the bank's ATM machine? Really? Wow, I thought it was only a Thai thing to rip off customers like that.

apparently, as proven in the not too distant past, banks in the US and UK and wherever in the Western and Asian hemisphere have financial problems as well.

Great business model, as customers we provide the Banks with raw material (i.e. working capital) to run their business, and we get charged for doing that.
Try that in any other business.
Even the junk yard pays for metal, plastics or carton !!

NanLaew's K-bank link above gives the answer.  But for those who are "link clicking" challenged, here's a snapshot of the answer from the K-bank link.

I had the same from BKK bank, sold a business in Pattaya and depositing the funds in Pattaya into an account opened in Phuket, 200-300 baht.

I went off my nut as I literally turned up with a suitcase full of money because the Thai buyers wanted to pay cash.

Almost all of them. TMB is the only Thai bank that doesn't play the province games. You can withdraw at any TMB ATM anywhere at no charge, and you can deposit at any TMB ADM/branch anywhere at no charge.

It's probably due to TMB - Thai Military Bank - being used by soldiers, who are transferred around a lot (and earn little), but us farangs can enjoy this perk too.

BTW, they also offer the best deal of all the Thai banks on their basic debit card (200 baht for 5 years, no annual fee).

Can't speak for the UK, but I'm not aware of any US bank that charges for withdrawals in their own ATM out of state.

KTK wanted 30 Baht for a deposit made in Pattaya (issuing branch in BKK) in the bank, went to the ADM machine to make the deposit, still 20 Baht fee :no justification for that in the Digitally interconnected age, if the deposit was made at another bank it might be justifiable, but the same bank.

On the spur of the moment I decided to buy a condo while visiting Hua Hin. I withdrew 50,000 a day from the ATM for 5 days at the BKK Bank, in Hua Him for the deposit. The deal fell through so I went to lodge the 250,000 back into the bank. They wanted me to pay for the privilege. I took it back to Pattaya and lodged it there instead...on principle I wouldn't pay them. I had, after all, withdrew it from the same Hua Hin bank

what's the point in complaining about a system you can't change in a country you chose to live in? When anyone chooses to move to another country/region the person has to check all aspects of life and make an informed decision if life in the new place suits him or not. As for the banking system - that's how it's been like here basically forever. With the internet banking there are ways around those charges of it is something you do on a regular basis, and of it's only once every blue moon just add it to the general costs of what you transfer the money for.

I moved from one province to another. As there is a20 baht fee for each atm withdrawal I just withdrew larger amounts less times. I later opened an account locally and used internet banking to transfer between my accounts for free (10 times a month - never reached the limit) and withdrew over the counter for free. Officially you're supposed to cancel an atm card at the issuing branch but as I wasn't going there I couldn't cancel and as I didn't want to pay annual free for 2 cards I didn't get a local atm at first. However at one point my atm stopped working and the local branch was willing to cancel it for me and then I got a local atm. So all you have to do is learn the system and make it work for you

I don't remember ever paying any transaction charges in the UK - although using online banking for god knows how many years it may have been so back in the mists of time?

Same for UK.

We are very fortunate in that there are no personal banking charges in the UK thanks to competition from  Building Societies who introduced free banking. And they have always blocked the banks attempts to introduce ATM charges.

In August 2018 I deposited about 210,000 baht into a Kasikorn Bank at Phuket. My Kasikorn Bank account is in Chiang Mai. I was charged 260 baht (from memory) as the commission fee. Recept issued.

300 Baht to count and register a suitcase of money seems like good value for money.

It must have taken steps to do, I'm glad I wasn't in the queue behind you!

Thank you for that never thought of studying the retail banking mess in detail.
So many more interesting things to do ????‍♂️

Yes, that's my experience too with Bangkok Bank out of the account branch region. The actual amount of "commission" depends on the amount paid in, but I did this recently and it appeared to be 0.1%. They always want their commission charges over the counter paid on top. Not sure if this applies if you are happy to use one of their automated deposit machines.

What statement?

I have Bank books but never seen a separate statement.

Bangkok Bank can give a 6-month statement at the counter (charge 100 baht). Requests for a 12-month statement have to be referred to head office and take about a week to be delivered to the branch (charge 200 baht).

As far as I can tell, the statement doesn't give any more information than the bank book - but it fills in any gaps in the bank book that may have been caused by not getting it updated regularly.

All my foreign transfers are shown as T/T both in the book and on the statements.

Sounds like it would just basically be an account query printout you can get from your Bangkok Bank ibanking at any time (instantly) and for free that goes back a max of 6 months.  But I expect the 12 month Bt200 statement might include letter and signature/stamp.

Can't tell you what a statement would look like if your went to a Thai bank and ordered a statement.  But I can give you and idea of what an ibanking query looks like.  Below is a redacted, partial snapshot of one of my Bangkok Bank accounts.  Every 3 months I do query....and save it to my computer....like below query for the 1 Oct-31 Dec 17 period.  Since no body is sending/paying me money there are not credits below....only debit/spending/withdrawal transactions
