Thai firms most ready to embrace tech solutions: study

By The Nation

According to a survey conducted by Asia IoT (internet of things) Business Platform in 2017, companies in Thailand were most likely (89 per cent) to explore and implement IoT solutions.

This was followed by Malaysia (86 per cent), Indonesia (83 per cent), the Philippines (80 per cent) and Vietnam (79 per cent). Thailand's IoT spending is forecast to increase by 1,600 per cent by 2020, the firm said.

"Thailand is one of the fastest growing markets in Asean and the government's ambition is to develop the country, by advancing infrastructure and connectivity. There is significant potential for businesses in Thailand to provide technological support and facilitate that growth,” said Pornchai Pruksaratananon, a committee member of the Thai Embedded Systems Association.

Survey, schmurvey.

Wanna know what they'll really do?  Look at how they spend their money.  And their time.  That was true before computers and it's still true.

Sooner or later, businesses (and consumers) are going to snap to the fact that IoT is a tool, a means to a goal.  Not the goal.

Profitability is the goal for businesses and improved quality of life is the goal for consumers.

They cannot garner investment, face without talking up money.  It is nothing more than a tool.  You are right.  Many of the IoT tools are illegal in Thailand or made non useful due to excessive legalities.   The tools which are legal are Bluetooth and WiFi.  Though their range is limited, they are useful and cheap.  The how and why are always missing from these articles making them a waste of time.

I wonder what a Thai Businessman would think of a paperless office.

IoT is only a small part of Technology, and to gain the full benefits of IoT, business,s must first embrace the Technologies that has been out there for ages now.

Somehow, a business in Thailand that employs a Manager, an Assistant Manager, a Data Cleck, and then somebody else to oversee the whole lot will not change in the foreseeable future me thinks.

Should, for any reason this plan from the Government succeed, then they create another huge problem. Thousands without jobs or futures. Hmmmm
