Terminal 21 has admitted the melee happened outside their store but said that the taxi driver started it and he broke the rules. Thai social media was abuzz with comment as the video of the fight was posted on a popular fan page, said Sanook. Security personnel and others can be seen using fists, feet and a stick of some kind to attack the driver who responds in kind. Eventually after about a minute he walks away from the scene at Asoke in Sukhumvit Road. Terminal 21 issued a letter on Thursday saying that the incident happened on Wednesday at 4pm after a taxi driver (in cab ทห thor hor 468) refused to accept a passenger thus contravening their rules. They stated that their rules are not to allow taxis who refuse passengers or who do not turn on the meter. This is the law in Thailand but is frequently flouted. Terminal 21 said that the matter of the fight that was started by the taxi driver was being dealt with according to their rules. They apologized and said that measures would be put in place so that it would not happen again. Sanook repeatedly referred to the shopping center not by its name but as "a famous one" though the area was clear and the letterhead on the apology said "Terminal 21". No mention has been made by Sanook of police involvement or that of the Department of Land Transport. Took on 4 or 5 of them, some of them wearing helmets and still came out pretty well. Not on his own turf too. And that was obviously an opportunity to call the dog pack and fight the bad guy together with his mates. I guess the good news is that there were not a couple of more taxis around at that time.
