Other than real free concerts, cheapest price I ever paid was $2.50 for a Cat Stevens show.  Lady D'Arbanville from the '70 Mona Bone Jakon LP.  Must add to my pretty songs playlist.

 

 

Hard Headed Woman off his '70 Tea For The Tillerman LP.  Mona Bone Jakon, Tea For The Tillerman, Teaser And The Firecat & Catch Bull At Four were all great albums.  Not a bad song on any of them and a lot of great ones.

I think I saw Donovan for $1 once.  '72 or so.  It was a concert at Madison Square Garden which apparently didn't sell too well, and on the same day as the show the fellow on the radio said a certain charity was giving the tickets away for a $1 donation, provided you got to their offices before 6pm.  Me and the then-missus went for it.  Anyway, we expected the office to be mobbed -- it wasn't.  Our seats were real close to the stage.  The Garden is a terrible place for music if you're up in the bleachers.

When the Fillmore East opened in 1968 tix were $3, $4 and $5.  First show I saw there was Jeff Beck.

Speaking of which, one of my faves these days is his Guitar Shop album.

Not 50's, 60's or 70's, but a very nice song nonetheless.  bendjo, have you checked out the other music thread on this forum, If You'Re Listening To Music Now... Whats Playing? (2018)?  That would be the one to post anything from 80's on.  You can post whatever you like, even pre-80's, there.  Keep posting here, though.  The diversity is great (don't take me for a liberal for saying that, though, LOL).

Well, I'm glad I stumbled across this thread!  Better late than never....

A little trivia: I knew this gal in NYC back then who was a groupie.  She was gorgeous.  And a sweet person.  Told me that Traffic was originally a love quadrangle, and Mason couldn't handle it.  It then became a triangle.  I have the impression "Every Mother's Son" is about that.

 

I found out not long ago that Steve Miller was the godson of Les Paul.

 

I learned just yesterday that Joan Baez had a 75th birthday concert and the album is available, haven't looked into it yet.

Glad to have you as an addition.  Sounds like you're a fossil like many of us here (I won't name names but I would say they're obvious).  Lots of musical history to share then.

bendejo, just an FYI, we have annual sock hop at bannork's place.  He provides all the beer so you don't have to BYO.  tutsi provides the gals so you can leave your wife at home.  I'm the DJ.  Keep July 20th open on yer calendar.  Andrew's a bit younger . . . too young, so he's not allowed to drink beer or fondle the gals.  He can smoke, though.
