Disgraceful scenes outside the ground both before and after the game. NOT the fault of the fans despite UEFA's protestations but that of the organisers and police.

Unsavoury scenes for sure, but I got the feeling this might be a case of English fans' reputation preceding them. Let's face it (and this is a generalisation) Spanish fans don't really go in for hooliganism to the same degree as northern European fans.

If you go around other people's countries for years chucking chairs, pissing in fountains and generally being a nuisance, that is going to have an impact on the way you are viewed. You get the feeling all the tear gas etc was given to police at the Liverpool end and they were probably encouraged to some degree by their superiors to show the fans 'who is boss'.

As said, I am not excusing the tear gassing last night, but putting it in the context of how English fans abroad are viewed.

If that team of the year was to actually compete in a season, it should get at least 3rd or 4th place then ????

Agree....the presence of a couple of Portuguese weakens it somewhat.????

Looks like a straight shootout between both red teams for Darwin Nunez........ Does he want to join the cuddly German or be part of the resurrection of the world's biggest club under ETH...

Dream big son!

The only one dreaming 'big' here is you mate. He's already made his intentions clear and accepted personal terms. Just a matter of confirming the fee breakdown with Benfica. If LFC can agree that, the deal is nailed.....despite your shower's (desperate???? efforts).

Ah fair enough. Just listened to the ESPN FC podcast and it seemed there was still a 'race for signature '

What do you think of this Tchouameni and where will he go? Saw a bit of him vs Croatia sat in a bar in Hamburg. I wasn't close enough to the screen to clearly see the players and thought for a few mins it was Pogba! Was very impressed with him.

Seems highly rated but not seen much of him. Apparently we made an enquiry but too much money (80m+) was asked so we didn't get as far as a bid. Looks nailed for R Madrid as no-one else going for him afaik.

Deal now agreed .....75m euros plus 25m add ons.

Nunez to apparently miss Uru v Pan on Saturday.  Travelling over to complete the move.

Verbal agreement reached with Benfica. 6 year contract already confirmed with Nunez.....Shouldn't be long now????

Back up for TAA signed for 4m plus add ons. Calvin Ramsey,  a highly rated 18 year old from Aberdeen. Won Scottish Football writers YPotY 21-22.

Or perhaps a longer view of Trent moving in to a deep midfield role...No we have the big man up top, I think we might be seeing an alternative formation to our regular 4-3-3 next season...

Can see changes in formation...4-2-3-1 being an example. But I can't see JK moving TAA out of his position

Taki and Mane gone, that pays for Nunez then.

Surely there is some cash for a midfielder....

Yep.....nearly 60m euros so a good start the kitty. Neco may be be next to Fulham or Forest. Not sure about spending big on a mid this window. We may wait for the right one to become availlable. All the suggested English ones have suffered through playing under Southgate this summer so don't actually fancy any of them at the moment. We might just stick with Carvalho for now and maybe a back up for Fabinho.

Salah inks a new contract. Nice to see him stay in the EPL.

As a City fan why would you be pleased about that.

Says it all about the cosy love-in of a 'rivalry'.

Well here we go again Wilers, City have strengthened, but lost a bit in attack for me. They a have 32 year old right back who's legs could go at any time and their best CB is out for a decent stretch, I think we can have them this year!

Spurs for me will be the one to pressure the order this season, Conte is an incredible manager, he gets results, they've strengthened and look good.

Super excited to see Diaz - Nunes - Salah terrorise everyone. The young lads Fabio, and Harvey are looking great. Trent huge and VvD over his injury.

Injury list as usual is picking up pace;

Kelleher - weeks away.

Konate - out for while.

Tsimikas - might train next week.

Ramsay - no update

Oxlade - No update, long term

Jones - out this week

Jota - weeks

Keita - hope to be back today

Gordon - no update.

We need to get away to a good start, we might benefit from the World Cup break as not many of our players are going to the World Cup and if they do, won't play much.

Up the <deleted> REDS!!
