And considering that this is a small scenic road, with view on the sea, calling for some 50km/h speed limit at a maximun. Nowhere is safe on this island...

Always them minivans come bombing down the hill at that point

How do you know that?

Maybe the deceased was "bombing" around the curves on the scenic road just having a blast.

Maybe he was reminiscing about the night before and not paying attention.

BIB effectively trained in low hanging fruit outcomes only " 500 plus with no helmet".  I am sure they can improve the stats on red light runners, and use of mobile phones while driving which is more risky event for the innocent drivers. Ghost driving and cutting people off would mean they need to get out of their air conditioned boxes at traffic lights and actually travel on the roads to see the behavior out there.

The circles drawn on the picture indicate the bike rider may have been cutting the corner.

It's a very dangerous bit of road that winds around the side of the hills just there. Generally, locals are aware of the dangers, but the bends do tend to tighten up for the unwary. Cars and vans often swing wide on the corners and others, including bikes, take the racing line.

Also many tourists end up with broken limbs or abrasions after plunging into the deep drainage ditches close to the road edge.

There's tourists for you. Would they do this in their 'home countries'?

There was a (farang) guy boasting last night that he 'only' paid b5k to get off a drink driving fine the night before. He failed to realise the rest of us were not impressed by his 'getting off' the charge.

Personally i would have been happier if he had been jailed. He comes from a country with VERY strict DUI laws but chose to put others at risk here.

Actually it didn't say that. I was just jumping to conclusions, my bad. Lets say 50% of them were.

No.

You said "always". (Always them minivans come bombing down the hill at that point).

I often go that way around just enjoying a ride around on my motorcycle and it is unfortunately not uncommon to see foreigners involved in accidents on the curvy roads of Rawai, Nai Harn area.. Lack of experience (if any at all) riding motorcycles as you see them come blasting their way through traffic..

Yeehaa - girls are hot, the beer cold and all Phuket is like a giant theme park where anything goes..

Maybe he wasnt wearing a helmet. Maybe he forget they drive on the wrong side of the road here.

They drive on the correct side of the road. Most of the time.

No, you didn't; you said, specifically, that minivans always come bombing down that hill.

I've ridden and walked this road many times such a beautiful place. RIP to the guy.
