Blood clot scan

Featured Replies

Looking for a reasonably priced complete body scan for blood clots. Anyone have first hand experience or knowledge of a good place and price in Chiang Mai?

Have had many operations and a bad family history. More from a preventative position than symptomatic.

Interesting question, whether one single method can detect blood clots anywhere in the body. MRI? PET scan? But not sure if you really have to go that far, if you haven't had any symptoms.

For prevention, it depends of what kind of blood clots you have in your family history.
If it's venous (deep venous trombosis, pulmonary embolism), the investigation should focus on possible hyper coagulation which is done by blood tests. If it's arterial(myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, claudicatio intermittens) it's more about blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure. And of course, quit smoking, loose weight, increase exercise.

Look into nattokinese. Naturopathic doctors are recommending it over aspirin therapy for long term clot avoidance and blood health. It is naturally derived enzymes from soybeans and doesn't carry the risks that aspirin does. Aspirin has a fatality rate and eats your digestive tract alive.

Information is limited and perhaps not the substitute for warfarin and other protocols for high-risk heart/clot patients, but for those of us in the preventative stage, natto is worth investigating.

My ex survived a DVT and was on warfarin for 6 months, then switched to low dose aspirin and/or natto before and after flying.

Not what the regular doctors might recommend but 15 years later and no issues...

My guess is that without symptoms, there isn't blood clots. Clots let you know loud and clear.
