Dutch tourist drug and abuse claims all a misunderstanding - he was blind drunk

So, in the U.K., the First thing they do is search other property owned or connected with you... and search for further evidence.

He somehow managed to be coherent enough to be photographed by somebody [ press] Holding a full page charge sheet? Next day, and then manages to get full press coverage on the incident, did the press not verify what they were printing by checking with the police before making allegations? Or just checked the validity of the charge sheet??

So, he later finds 40:000 bt in a cupboard in his room..” not thought to pop it in the safe” When he was sober??  No such room search was ever conducted, and/ or was a large lump of cash was not discovered upon a room search?. Lol lol....then he sobers up and remembers it was all a fantasy...so, charges of Defamation against innocent police immediately dropped, no order of deportation, imprisonment, or fines...just case dropped...nothing to see here folks. Forget about it...it’s all a mistake!!...we forgive him...Bless.

Were this anywhere but Thailand you would say fair enough and move on. With the amount of corruption here though, you cant help but wonder what else might have been going on behind the scenes here and if his revelation that none of what he alleged happened has been orchestrated?

I saw that finger.

Another foreigner who just doesn't understand!

No sorry I take it back...he understood very well.

He beat the vermin at their own game.

Foreigner or Thai, they all get "mixed up" and defensive when confronted with the PoPo.

Interesting that he "found" his missing 40K Baht.

I originally posted in another post that he was probably set up by his girlfriend in collaboration with the cops, easy target, and now the money is back, well well well

Bars and restaurants serve drinks until people are clearly intoxicated, then continue serving them well past that point. Convenience stores sell to drunk customers and tolerate drinking outside the shops. The entire social acceptance of drunkeness invites fights, assaults and assorted subdry crimes, not to mention driving while intoxicated. Truely amazing Thailand.

Yup-the acceptance of public drunkenness is very obviously a key issue.

I remember getting a shave and haircut on Chinese New Tear whilst a completely sozzled cop waved his brand new Glock under my nose-extremely proud of it he was..

Between the cutthroat razor and the Glock things started to look a trifle exciting..

Another quality tourist - most likely paid up and was told to shut up or alternatively be booked into the slammer and they would throw away the keys?

And no where in this story does it mention he was breathalyzed, something stinks and not just his breath ????

Why do so many alcoholic./heavy drinker tourists and expats arrive in Thailand?

It's an expensive place to get drunk! Please consider your other, much cheaper options, now please leave.

So, they’ve returned his money and told him to change the story or else.

No they never returned his money, the Thai's steal for keeps. They just told him to change his story.

What for, he admitted to being drunk, is breathalyzing part of the procedure now when a person is accused of being in possession of drugs, along with a knee in the groin?

Anybody who believes this story is in cuckoo land.

Cover-up, threats, and climb down as well as his 40,000 returned and his quick exit out of the place!

He went into far too much detail in previous reports, he knew exactly from where his ATM was located and went missing from, details of the stop, the amounts asked for and handed over, a picture of the full charge sheet, contacting the press, etc ...................HE WAS NOT DRUNK!

Nah sorry, I am having none of this bull,

They are in retreat because of the social media publicity and don't want a visit from Big Joke and co.

Tomorrow we will have smiling pictures of Police with bouquets of flowers and the Police returning bundles of cash and valuables to punters who inadvertently left them on the beach.

quite reasonable.  imagine they also want to not see this make its way into chinese language news media
