Provincial Police Region 1 chief Pol Lt-General Ampol Buarapporn on Monday explained that a decomposed human head found floating in Chao Phraya River near the Petra ferry pier in Samut Prakan’s Phra Pradaeng district on February 6 was not related to a murder case.

He said the recently discovered evidence suggested that the head – identified as coming from 44-year-old Amnat Chaoroen native Janpen Boonkan. The woman, who had been missing since February 4, had committed suicide by jumping into the river.

Samrong Tai superintendent Pol Colonel Prasert Buakhao said police had inspected the flat where Janpen lived with her husband Prasit Tonsura, 49, and son Pratheep Tonsura, 23, in tambon Bang Peung of Phra Phradaeng.

An examination of the woman’s phone found that she had posted a goodbye message to her son on Facebook at 3.56pm on February 4. Police traced the woman’s movements through CCTV footage, saying that she had hailed a motorcycle taxi to a pier and then jumped into the river at around 4pm and disappeared. Police suspected that her decomposed body was at one point hit by a boat’s propeller blade, which removed the head and led to its discovery.

Prasit and Janpen’s elder sister Pleng Suriyabut, 51, confirmed to police that the woman seen in the CCTV footage as jumping into river was Janpen.

Insisting that he had not fought with his wife, Prasit told police that Janpen had suffered from depression and was on medication. She had run away from home on two previous occasions.

Not a bit far fetched?

I would say so but its plausible, they see her jumping in the river on CCTV. That kinda makes it a far more likely story. Without it i would doubt the whole story.

Alternatively she tried to kill herself, survived and got murdered (find that less likely)

Here you go. I made it easy for you. No need to read short article again.

If you would have read the OP, you would have read this:

In need pf Occam's razor. It is possible but is it the most likely option? In my view, no it's not the most likely option. The most likely option is that she was killed and her body cut up into parts.

The suicide seem quite obvious from the CCTV, but what i question is that a propeller blade somehow cut of the head. But then, what else could have made such a cut? We will probably never now.

There is a forensic museum at Siriraj hospital. Among other very gruesome things, there are bodies from people who died from propeller blade cuts. Didn't fell very well after that visit..

A lot of decapitated bodies found here~isn't it a lot of unnecessary gory work removing a head?  lots of jumping to your death as well.  Very messy nasty stuff

I wonder...how can a head be decapitated?  Why does all this matter?  What are we going to do about it beyond useless comments? Perhaps if we talk about it enough, we may solve the crime or reincarnate the soul...hey, even better yet, the head will reattach itself - LOL

I love a good laugh in the morning, this provided it today.

Not the death of the girl, obviously, that is very sad, but the idea that she committed suicide.  Sorry if that was misunderstood.

If the body was beheaded by an engine prop, there would be a lot of secondary wounds visible on the remains.

Prop blades will cut every rotation; it would be impossible for the blades to cleanly sever a head without leaving other cuts.

And that's meaby why police could confirm the head was cut off of a boat

So meny tv in here only think of conspiracy or make fun of stories as this

This is the most clear case of suicide we had read for a very long time and still some people don't believe this

Probably same people there don't believe we have been on the moon or 9/11 was a conspiracy from the government

<Grammar nazi alert>

You do not get a

"Decapitated head"

You get a decapitated body.

Decapitation is the removal of the head (beheadining) from the body. So you don't get the head copped off of a head.

So the CCTV footage of her committing suicide isn't enough for you.

But yeah, isn't the whole thing a laugh.
