webfact Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Chiang Rai man arrested on bus with 8kg of ‘ice’ By The Nation A man was arrested while allegedly trying to smuggle 8.59 kilograms of crystal meth or "ice" from Chiang Rai to Bangkok on Monday evening. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Nirand Pornsuksomsakul, 33, a resident of Chiang Rai’s Mae Chan district, at the Chiang Rai bus terminal in Muang district at 5.30pm. Police said Nirand was found sitting on a bus while waiting for it to depart for Bangkok. The drug was found hidden in his travel bag. He said a Myanmar man, whom he knew only as “Boy”, had paid him Bt50,000 to courier the drug from a graveyard in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district to a recipient in the capital.
