Not sure why because there are very few viable Thai voters on Samui. Almost certainly a PR exercise, so hopefully everyone on social media will pass on the annoyance their motorcades are causing everywhere here and vote for someone who is democratic.

It's for the opening ceremony for the water pipeline from the mainland.

But I thought it was Prawit, he's not running for office.

You should have been here when then the crown prince opened the court building.

They put tarmac from his hotel in Bophut to the new courthouse.

I'm not annoyed for a little wait one day if we get infrastructure improvements like theese.

It seems to me that Prawit's best before date is already behind us so don't expect him to bring any new tarmac, he is only here to take credit for the pipeline.

I don't really care who takes credit but salute them for having done it. Lot of moaning on here when we run out of water and people saying it would be impossible to ever get a pipeline done in this place. We might not get flooded with improvements but at least we get droplets of things moving in the right direction.  Island life - island pace

Not sure why...

As @PoorSucker said, Prayuth Chan-ocha was here yesterday for opening the valve on the new water pipe from the mainland. It's been mention ahead of the event in the Thai language news for the island.

However, I think the tarmac would have been put from Bophut anyway, because they "forgot" two of the most awful surface parts of the Ring Road in each direction from the hotel to the new Court House, probably wouldn't have forgot that, if it was made only for such a high person...????
