Are there any UK banks that anyone could recommend  :-

I am permanently resident in Thailand

I do not need a UK credit card

I have several monthly / yearly pension payments to be paid into my bank

I want them to offer a good internet service for my laptop

I want an account for making debit card payments and also a separate savings account

I am registered with the Inland Revenue with my Thai address

I will occasionally wish to transfer money to my Bangkok Bank sterling account

Dont see how without a UK residential address.

The nearest to your requirements I would say would be "Ist Direct"-internet only banking, but you would need to clarify as per above.

You could try Lloyds offshore, I set up an account with them with nothing more than a scan of my passport.

That was some years back mind, things could have changed.

No Chance with First Direct.

Although a bank with only Telephone & Internet access they require you to visit a HSBC Branch (HSBC own them after taking over the Midland Bank) if not happy with your "residence Documents" provided on line!

None of the traditional UK banks will open accounts for non-residents.

Have a look at Transferwise and their Borderless account.

Anyone thinking of moving to Thailand should think long and hard before giving up a UK bank account and a UK address.

It wouldn't be wise holding onto a UK address that you own - as you will have at least 18% and possibly 40% CGT bill to pay when you sell it

You either own it or you don’t...I imagine the smart people sell as main residence.

Any address will suffice - I use Lucy’s Mum’s.
