Four women were arrested for allegedly selling 90 kilograms of kratom leaves at a grocery store on the tourist island of Koh Samui on Monday evening.

Acting on a tip-off from local residents, an undercover official asked to buy kratom (Mitragyna) on the Samui Airport road in Tambon Borphut before officials stormed in to make the arrest at 5.30pm.

The joint sting operation involved troops from the Fourth Army Area, district officials and Borphut police.

Jaemnapha Thidindam 37, Uree Mapaklad, 58, Natthaphat Chuphet, 19, and Chanthana Phetthong, 53 were arrested after officials allegedly found them packing leaves into small retail packs. A pack filled with leaves in plastic bags was also found in a hidden hole outside the store.

Busting someone selling kratom leaves must have been the crime of the century on this corrupt island.

Army troops and police officials (bet they used bulletproof vests) were involved in the big bust against these women.

What about jaywalking, another heinous crime that should not be neglected.

Bet Big Joke is jealous of this fearsome half dozen  ????

I thought that jaywalking was compulsory on Samui!

Most roads do not have pavements/side-walks and where they do, the local government plants trees and lamp posts in the middle of them.

I've read about kratom leaves but can anyone here give me a fuller explanation about why they would be illegal. What is so bad about them?

You know who uses those leaves? The poorest of the poor. Sure, easy pickings, load up the jails with low level non violent criminals, female criminals at that.  You know those sidewalk cracks that people step on and break their mothers backs? Lets put those CCTV's to good use and punish those perps.

Why do they need the army to arrest 4 ladies, are they highly trained marshal arts killers.

These leaves are about to become legal and monetized. THAT'S what this despicable action against four poor women trying to eke out a living is about.

Meanwhile ignore the fact the island is awash with other drugs !!
