Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday received an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Political Communication from Thailand’s Krirk University for his achievements in liberating and rebuilding Cambodia. University president Krasae Chanawongse conferred the degree to Mr Hun Sen during a ceremony at the Peace Palace.

“Krirk University has determined that Samdech Hun Sen is a knowledgeable and capable leader who utilised political communication in his many achievements in Cambodia,” he said, noting the CPP leader’s struggle to overthrow the Khmer Rouge and rebuild a country that had been plagued by civil war. “Samdech Techo Hun Sen united his people under one banner, and led his party to a landslide victory in the 2018 election,” Mr Krasae noted. “This confirms that his Excellency is well-versed in the principle of political communication, in addition to his campaign victory.”

Speaking at the event, Mr Hun Sen expressed his thanks to the university for recognising his struggles to free the nation and end decades of civil war.
“Today I am proud to receive a great honour from the board of directors of the prestigious Krirk University of the Kingdom of Thailand which awarded me the Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Political Communication,” he said.

Never heard of it. Prestigious.

Oh the irony. Khmer rouge sweeping the educated city folk out into the country to work on collective farms killing millions in the process.

Yet another irony, this is not an educated, deep thinker. Former agrarian Maoist cum strongman. Liberal 20c thinking? Not much.

Sounds like a gambit to set up a school in Phonom Penh.

Next up for degrees Khieu Sampan, Ta Mok and Saloth Sar awarded post mortem.

Disgusting!

Is this the same university where students dress up as Hitler for a bit of fun?

Probably. . . which leads one to speculate whether such politically-incorrect behavior would amount to white supremacism (except, of course, most of the participants wouldn't be white!) or cultural appropriation?

Answers on a postcard, please, but not -  as I am sure you won't need reminding - the old British seaside variety featuring oppressed minories like fat ladies and dumb blondes.

This University is Chinese owned.

Simply don't believe this.  Until very recently it's been impossible for foreign owned universities to operate in Thailand.  It's now only allowed in Special Economic Zones.  Pretty sure that Ram Intra is not an SEZ.

This is a private university...ownership of this institution changed hands several years ago..the new owners are Chinese...it's not hard.

You will find very little information about this place, even in Wiki...and no board of management has been publicised.
