Having sort advice here for a friend this is a report on the application so far.

The situation is that the Man resides in Norway and the Thai lady was making the application alone supported by paperwork supplied by the guy from Norway.

Having gone to Norway's website, kindly supplied by a member here, I downloaded the neccessary paper work.

That consisted of a two page application form and a single sheet outlining what other paperwork was required. It also indicated that Visa Applications would be dealt with in a maximum of 5 working days from submission.

The application was fora 90 day visitors visa.

Documents supplied by the Thai person consisted of:

Current Passport

Photocopy of said passport, (Plus a photocopy of any other visas ever issued).

Photocopy of the Household Registration

Completed Application form with one passport photo

Booking confirmation of return air ticket

Plus supplied by the guy from Norway:

Letter of invitation stating the purpose of the visit

Copy of his passport

Proof of his income (Minimum 161.000 per year)

Proof of residence in Norway

(These last two were covered by a single document supplied by the local police station in Norway)

In addition to the above, although not requested as a requirement, we took written documentation supporting the lady's employment for the last two years.

Having checked everything and placed it in the correct order we set out for the Embassy on the 18th floor of the UBC building on Soi 33 Sukumvit.

Timings given for applications are 1000hrs till 1200hrs. We arrive at 0930hrs and the visa application office was already open with about 15 applicants in front of us.

We took a number and waited to be called, when our turn came I accompanied the lady to the desk. (Note applications have to be made by the applicant in person). We offered all the documents that were outlined in their information sheet. These were checked and then the lady concerned was asked how she could prove her employment. We then produced letters from her employers, (Two seperate employers covering a period of two years), these letters were supported by photocopies of the company's registration.

So far everything as we expected.

The official then asked me to sit down while the applicant filled in an extra form alone. This was a single sheet and sort the following information: Where had she met her friend, when and where, (hence how long had she known him).

Finally we were told that we would not be given a decision within the advertised time period due to a staff shortage. We therefore would have to wait 10 days. I pointed out that would be beyond the confirmed air booking date. This date was allowed to be adjusted there and then as it was their staff problem which caused the error.

The official was a Thai lady with excellent English Language skills and extremely polite.

You are able to seek the progress of your visa application by phone but only between 1300-1400hrs during weekdays.

You are given a date at which time you have to return, again in person, to receive their decision and collect your passport, with or without the visa as per that decision.

If a visa is granted you will be liable to pay 1,450.00 Thai Baht (this is for a single entry 90 day visa)

Let you know the result in a week or two

:o sigh.......

you really got into that na.....

my gf just got to the embassy (alone), handed over the proper papers, and after 5 days she got the visa :D

No problem if you guarantee that you support her during the stay in norway, and guarantee that she will go back.

good luck :D

Hi Viking,

Guess your right but I am English and was helping someone out.

This was my first experience of trying to get a a visa for Norway, so wanted to cover all the base's.

Your right, it all seemed straight forward but when you think about what my own country requires to issue a Thai National a visa you can understand my caution.

The girl at the embassey confirmed that the usual time was 5 days.

Refreshing, :o now just have to see if the visa is forthcoming
