Phuket Police impose tough security measures for the Buddhist holiday period of MakaBucha.

PHUKET: -- In prevention of any disturbance or incidents during the Buddhist holiday period of MakaBucha which falls on Saturday, the Phuket police are stepping up the security measures in important locations.

More officers from the Police Region 8 headquarters are also being sent to support the island’s operation. The provincial Chief of Police, Pol. Major General Decha Butnampetch, seeks cooperation from hoteliers and businesses plus the general public to help observe and monitor any suspicious activity and report to the officers.

At present 48 security cameras Closed Circuit Televisions or CCTVs have been installed in major tourist locations and they plan to double them in the near future, by having local administrative bodies contribute to the island’s security measures.
