The Nakhon Ratchasima District Highway 2 Office is focusing on five locations on the Mittraphap Highway where traffic congestion is expected to be worst over Songkran.

With a high volume of traffic expected on the highway starting on Thursday (April 11), a source at the office said more personnel would be directing traffic at the five locations between Pak Chong and Sikhieo districts.

These are the Kilometre 36-38 marker area known as Mor Thong Luang, Km 46-51 (Farm Chok Chai), Km 66-72 (an area of roadside stalls), a motorway construction zone in Pak Chong, and Km 92 near the Lat Bua Khao petrol station.

Cargo trucks were still using the highway on Wednesday morning, but the Highway Department and Royal Thai Police have asked operators to keep off main roads from April 11-17.
