This may be a bit complicated i will ask.

GF has a multi entry Schengen visa in old passport she will be visiting Ireland on a tourist visa 3 visit and would like to visit her Sister who is in Sweden and her new baby.

Can this be done without applying for new visa. As iv been told the visa is valid even though the passport has expired. Of course she has a new PASSPORT.

If the visa is still valid present both old and new passports on arrival in Sweden. what you have been told is correct.
