BANGKOK, 10 May 2019 (NNT) - The government has ordered serious drugs eradication in all areas and investigations into key persons behind.

The Ministry of Defence Spokesman Lt Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich revealed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has praised the works by administrative officials, the military, the police, and the Narcotics Control Board to prevent and suppress drugs smuggling in rural areas and urban communities in April, leading to the confiscation of 30 million amphetamine pills, 140 kilograms of methamphetamine, as well as heroin, opium, cocaine, and dried marijuana from a major drug bust in Mae Chan district in Chaing Mai where 10 million amphetamine pills were seized, and operations in Bangkok from which 6 million seizing 6 million amphetamine pills.

The DPM has urged all sectors to remain on alert with the drugs suppression measures, focusing on both smugglers and network of dealers distributed in community areas, especially at entertainment venues, areas around schools and educational institutes.

He has asked the Narcotics Control Board to further investigate into cases to indicate key persons behind the network and implement legal measures, including the seizing of assets, against them. The DPM has also said the government will not protect any government officials involved with drug rings.

Rather a safe remark to make given historically the drug trade has been run by the police and military.

  • He needs a good toke!

  • Has been tried in far more developed countries during a very long time. To tell you the truth, it can't be done.

Yes, a lot more sophisticated countries than Thailand have tried this and failed miserably and in fact have caused more harm than good with their ineffective efforts. If Thailand was serious they would be calling out China for making billions addicting S.E. Asia by providing the base chemicals.

New revenue streams from a successful election.  The need for speed...no longer required.

In the words of Nancy Reagan "Just Say No">> that was s great success

But he is not into eradicating dope. Otherwise he would have to suicide!

Like cleaning the air in Chiang Mai in 7 days.  Just telling people to do something does not guarantee success.

Well let’s see…judging from official reports…the Junta…

-          Completely eliminated all government corruption.

-          Solved the gridlocked Bangkok traffic problem.

-          Achieved complete reconciliation of Thailand’s non-miserable society

-          Totally solved the northern air quality problem in a mere seven days.

-          Overwhelmingly won a completely fair, 100% honest, and purely democratic

            national election.

…to name a very few of their amazing achievements.

So…all things considered, the complete eradication of illegal drugs shouldn’t be a problem. Maybe a week or two at most.

The only efffect of his "war on drugs"  was a massive price rise of Yaba  and a lot of innocent people getting killed.

This is to remind the folk who do the Senate nominations he is still around, in spite of his uncharacteristic silence of late.

Yeah, very familiar. As they seem to just can't help themselves but to copy Thaksin: Extra judicial killings here we come again.

He has been watching developments now for a while, so there shouldn't be any further problems.

Thaksin was instructed by someone higher up to clampdown on drugs. If you make the effort you can see the messages from the US embassy in this regard, publised by Weakileaks. NB its blocked inside Thailand and you need a VPN to get around the block.

let the Rolex general  cash out some of his watches to pay for it.

it is a total waste of time and money.

look at the U.S. who has spent billions and billions trying to stop drugs and enforcement agents murdered!

legalize pot just like many states are doing in the U.S. against federal law and are making millions off of the tax.

that will cut down a lot of problems!

Sure, that really worked, a couple thousand small time dealers and users assassinated, no major supliers touched and a market that continued to grow.  Tell us, just what is it you liked about Thaksins killings?  The blood?

It is made by militias in Myanmar, the precursors are made in China, but they also have legitimate use in pharmaceutical manufacture, so you cant blame China for selling something legal that Myanmar then allows to get out of their control and into the hands of the rebels.
