Hernia Surgery

Featured Replies

Hi, Can anybody here who has recently undergone surgery for a Groin Hernia recommend a good surgeon and hospital. Preferably in Chiang Mai but will go to Bangkok.

The good news is that inguinal (groin) hernia repair surgery is a very straightforward and relatively simple operation.  In fact, it is one of the first procedures that general surgical students learn.

I don’t have a general surgeon to recommend, but you definitely should be able to find a completely competent doctor right here in CM.

Also, pick the surgeon first-not the hospital.  Often your chosen surgeon will be working at more than one hospital, and this is one of those rare times you really CAN comparison shop on price and not sacrifice your health.

Of course, if you’re completely insured, you might as well go to a surgeon at the Bangkok Hospital !

I really hope some TV members will step up and offer you some good leads.  You should have several to many potential good options for this particular surgery.

Good luck!

P.S.  Don’t be too surprised if you need to have the other side repaired at a later time, as this is often the case.

Had double inguinal hernia surgery in 2012 by Chiang Mai Ram surgeon Dr. Kittipun Sandhu.  He was very professional and fully explained the entire surgery procedures when questioned.  Very satisfied with his service and he was requested later for another surgery procedure.

He might be the son of the other Dr. Sandhu of CM Rm who is the chief surgeon.
