Any Experience in Registering a Company's Shareholder as Employee under Social Security Fund?

Featured Replies

Hi guys!
Can a Thai local limited company have its shareholders (exclusively shareholder, not director) registered in the SSO (Social Security Office) in Chiangmai as employee of the same company?

I would like to hear about anyone's experience in dealing with this particular case, and for those that managed it successfully, what documents have you provided to SSO?
Thanks in advance !

A shareholder can be an employee Thai or foreign.

I have done it. Me as a director and my employees as shareholders.

I'm sorry I don't know the list of documents as my accountant did it.

More than likely is just providing the person's ID and filling out a form regarding their salary.

Go to the social security office at the government complex they are friendly and will answer any of your questions.

Sorry registering for social security as a director is no longer allowed.

For those like myself that registered many years ago you can still pay into social security but no new applicants as directors are allowed.

Was advised when opening my company that my Thai partner (who is 50% shareholder) could not be one of the 4 Thais employed at the company necessary for my work permit application
