Buffet breakfast that I preferred until last year: 145 Baht.

Two weeks ago went there: 200 Baht.

Mad.

Turned on my heel.

There it is.

Like I said as opposed to the false posts giving the impression the mall is hurting with claims it was a bunch of closed

shops.

They are making nice improvements too bad for the haters falsely hoping for the malls demise...

I went yesterday to see a movie. Beforehand I had a burger meal at Carl's Junior for the special discount price of 199 Baht. Then I went for a smoke outside Floor 2, looked at watches in the main store then had coffee and cake at Black Canyon for 180 Baht before watching Rocketman for 120 Baht. Avoided the rain and used the toilets too.

Now if they had a pub type place in there I might give that a go as well, especially if there were sports on.

Only some do, and even with the discount the prices are still very high for what you get.

Overpricing is what will drive people away from Thailand. Why come here and be ripped off when you can go to somewhere nice like Portugal and pay less? Better weather too.

Why not Disneyland? ????

I love Pattaya because it is free of the shame and guilt that permeates North American society.

yeah, there's that :cheesy:

I go to Starbucks, watch a movie in their first class cinema, buy stuff at Boots, BreadTalk, and central foods.

I think they are doing all right.

Pity about M&S. The sheer amount of money I spent there was staggering. Now, they have so little stock.

If there was a full proper M&S food store, I'd be quite happy.

Generally, if you mind your own business.

But, lots of judgement here from Co expats.

The: you do what?  You go there? Why you do this and that?

Mostly jealousy because they cannot keep up physically or financially..

The negativity in here is a stark contrast to the sentiment expressed by actual people in the street. It is as if there is no relationship between what a poster posts and actual reality.

The average person on the street is smart enough to understand it is less busy during low season. As well as understand nothing operates at peaks constantly without the ocassional troughs.

If there is persistent year round declines for thenext several years, then we can talk.

I promise I won’t shed a tear or ever set foot in Pattaya again........left 5 yrs ago after living in Jomtien for 9 yrs...........don’t miss one thing about it.
I did like it the first 7 yrs or so when I lived there.

It serves a sole purpose and nothing more.
Jomtien is dull, but also guys that have been burned by thai girls will have bad memories

Let's just break this down and be very honest about Pattaya for a moment.

On the one hand, you have the expat visitors. I do not know if you could by design find a worse bunch of people, as a whole. Older, cheap, boring, ugly, bald, smelly, or obnoxious meat head Aussies/Americans/Euros. Of course you can find diamonds in the rough though, we all know that.

On the other hand, you have a group of very attractive young Thai ladies that populate the other major demographic in the city, yet all they care about is emptying you. That is literally their life/daily goal. They have seen it all. They

Couldnt agree more,

thats the reality, it is what it is,

the funny thing is that these girls know thats what their goal is, the guys on the other hand think that the they are not "cheap, boring, ugly, bald, smelly, or obnoxious meat head Aussies/Americans/Euros" and the girls they hook up with are not "all they care about is emptying you. That is literally their life/daily goal."

given that every post starts with "mines different" and "I look younger than my age," and "she is different"

False post.

That is a new food court area under construction not empty shops.

Well I went to have a look myself yesterday (Sunday 7th July 2019)   the new food court is indeed open   I would say it was less busy than the old food court  at the other end of the floor was, which is now closed and boarded up too.

I arrived at about 2PM   the car park was full  ( as normal especially at the weekend) had to double park,   there where plenty of people milling around  air-bathing.

Well, you are still wrong and what is your point? You obviously still do not get it and seem to have difficulty admitting you are wrong.

You even claimed Thompson was gone...

There are no shops closed and boarded.  You are trying to insinuate as though they all went out of business??

There is nothing behind there but empty space construction. Not a "closed/boarded shop".

Their leases were up or they desired to change locations and the mall is what they believe making improvements and still upgrading the area with additional food court options.

Can you read it says "coming soon" in your photo??

When I posted about that  the old shop was boarded up ( I didn't notice if the new location was open or not then )...now the old location it has been totally removed..( some seats are there now)

yes they moved, I was wrong !

Look at the photos there are lots, I don't know why you argue about it,there where shops there before..now they are closed and boarded up..maybe they will open again who knows  but to say my post was false is itself false...those shops that used to be there are no longer open for business AKA closed.

I wonder what will replace the original food court area.

Yes it does...so we will soon know  and then I'll come back to this thread and "admit I'm wrong"

It is indeed dead and getting worse year by year.

There is no one here at all, including no Chinese.

my commercial laundry shop has just laid off 60% of its staff and saying possibly will close down in the next few months if it does not pick up.

some places have closed down for a month as no customers at all.

its hard to say why no one is coming but I would say bad exchange rate, bad attitude of service staff, high prices, and yes attitude of girls would be the reason, plus immigration hassles and questioning.

Many offshore workers who use to be here on every rotation off do not come as immigration giving them hell and demanding they get “proper” visa’s

A friend of mine who is a regular visitor to Pattaya just arrived in BBK en route to Pattaya. He was detained by immigration for an hour who accused him of working in the LOS.

He finally convinced them he was just on holiday. But the female IO who spoke rudely to him throughout the interview finally slapped his passport down on the table and snapped at him "Go".

While he was waiting he started considering flying on to Vietnam.

I know him well, he holidays in Pattaya, has done so for years and has no need nor the inclination to work and has never been in trouble nor overstayed. He realised there and then that they simply don't want us here any more. And that's just the authorities. It makes you wonder what the service staff, the bar girls and the Thai people in general really think of us.
