(Reuters) - The British retail tycoon Philip Green has been charged with four counts of misdemeanour assault in the United States after an Arizona pilates instructor accused him of repeatedly touching her inappropriately, Britain's Press Association reported on Friday.

The billionaire chairman of Arcadia Group, Green, 67, is accused of spanking the instructor and grabbing her buttocks at the Canyon Ranch resort in Tucson in 2016 and 2018, according to the Pima County Attorney's Office, the PA reported.

Arcadia Group said in a statement on Green's behalf that he "strenuously denies" the allegations, and noted that "contrary to previous suggestions in the media, there is no allegation of any sexual assault or misconduct made by the prosecution."

The charges carry a sentence of up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine, the PA reported, citing Lauren Deakin, a deputy in the prosecutor's office. Pima County court records posted online showed Green was due to appear for an arraignment hearing for the four charges on June 19, but the full criminal complaint was not immediately available.

Arcadia Group's statement said that Green did not plan to attend the hearing in person.

A spokeswoman for the country attorney's office did not respond to requests for confirmation.

Green's group operates some of the best-known clothing store chains in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins.

The company said this month it planned to close 23 of its 566 stores in the British Isles as it loses customers to online competitors.

Can’t the old duffer have a good time?perhaps it’s brown envelope time

No court injunction to stop the press reporting it?

He was also at the centre of controversy earlier this year when he took out an injunction barring the Daily Telegraph from reporting allegations of misconduct against him by employees, which included bullying along with sexual and racial abuse, allegations the businessman strongly denied. He later dropped the injunction.

This guy should have gone to a BDSM dominatrix and get a hell of bang for his buck then waste his time in a Pilates session...

The dominatrix would have spanked him, he has been charged with being the aggressor

I wonder how many members of parliament have gone to caning sessions? That would be okay as they get their jollies from receiving pain, not giving it...

That was consensual, after they left boarding school ????

Why has it taken so long for these allegations to be brought to prosecution?

Plus, it allegedly happened in both 2016 and 2018. She was obviously so traumatised by the 2016 incident that she agreed to another session in 2018. :whistling:

Alternatively she couldn't believe how traumatised it had left her in 2016 and wanted to verify it

Could have a buy one get two free session with Max Mosely.   Mind you how many very rich guys consider that they have so much wealth they can do anything anywhere and won't get dropped in it ?   If he wants to act the wealthy pervert with a high sex drive he should move to Thailand. Absolutely nothing he could do to  there that would get him locked up, with his money,  to pay the    girl/police/brother/young children/prime minister/lady boy/Monk etc etc. Why he could always bring his motor yacht over for his entertainment sessions. Another disgusting pervert who stole pension money and still gets to keep his knighthood. Says a lot about the type of characters on the honours committee who recommended the Queen to award them.

The Pound Me Too movement made things so ridiculous in the west. If he did indeed spank her that is of course inappropriate, but the fact that she actually came by for more lessons and it happened over the span of a few years suggests she didn't mind all that much and/or the money was good enough for her to ignore her discomfort. She just realized now she can extort more money out of it.

Been there, done that.

I'm guessing in no way was this girl made to bend over his lap and actually spanked in S&M style.

During the exercises, perhaps on a few occasions, he gave her bum a real light tap, and perhaps even put his hand on her ass and mentioned what an absolute wonderful derriere she had....

But of-course, with the potential windfall for this girl, her lawyers would make it sound like a real painful "spanking" and everything else they can think of, hoping for an out of court settlement, or even better, a possible win of the case.

Let's see what happens.
