Man Dies After Electric Hairdryer Causes Fatal Shock While Trying to Warm Himself
Picture from responders. A 39-year-old man died after being electrocuted by his own hairdryer while attempting to warm himself during a cold night. The incident occurred in a workers’ camp in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi, on the morning of 3 February. Authorities were alerted to the scene at a metal shack in the worker’s camp, where they found the body of Mr. Jaising Supasorn, who was lying lifeless on his side. The body showed signs of burns and blisters on the right thigh, genital area, and abdomen. A black hairdryer was found plugged in beside his feet, suggesting that he had left the device on and accidentally fallen asleep while using it to alleviate pain from a chronic illness. His wife, 37-year-old Natthaya Ramsri, explained that her husband had been suffering from chronic conditions, including heart disease and fluid buildup in the lungs. She mentioned that he often experienced coldness and would use the hairdryer to warm his body. She believes that after he left the dryer on to warm his legs, he fell asleep, and the appliance short-circuited, causing sparks that led to the fatal shock. Natthaya, who works at a local barbecue restaurant, described how her husband had been unable to walk for the past few months due to his health issues. They had been married for nearly 20 years and have three children together. Despite the sadness of his untimely death, she had mentally prepared herself, given her husband’s deteriorating health condition. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of death, with a post-mortem examination underway to confirm the exact circumstances. -- 2025-02-04 -

British man’s Thailand trip goes from heaven to prison hell (video)
I lived in Thailand for 10 years, visited several times before moving there, and never had problems (admittedly I only ever spent one night in Pattaya, Chiang Mai was more to my liking). I guess it does happen, but he must have really had some bad luck. Worse thing that ever happened to me was taxi drivers overcharging. Once I learned the buses, I had an alternative to that... Ohhh and the dual pricing at tourist attractions, though not in my neighborhood (Ladphrao Rd) -
