World Class Pattaya: State of the art light rail network to meet incoming tourists

A deputy Pattaya mayor has said that two companies are tendering plans for a light railway or tram project in the eastern seaboard resort. 

 

The budget could be as much as 70 billion baht. 

 

The plan is to have a state of the art transport system in place to meet the high speed train planned for the Don Muang - Suvarnabhumi - U-Tapao route. This will pass through Pattaya.

 

Ronnakit Ekkasing said that the new system would reduce pollution and traffic problems. 

 

Tourists arriving by train would be whisked to their destination on the new system, he said. 

 

Surveys are expected to be mounted by the companies from next month. 

 

Pictures on Sophon Cable TV showed an elevated "Pattaya Monorail" idea. 

 

 

However, they said that there was much opposition to an elevated train plan in the city and it may end up being one that uses existing roads. 

 

The plans are part of ambitious projects to see Pattaya maintain and improve its place as a world class tourist destination.

But hoping the pylons are deep enough to not be affected by the flooding which regardless of billions of Baht already spent have not been fixed, in fact the billions spent have not even put a dent in the problem.

Yes it looks ghastly...but I'm sure the tourist will love hauling their heavy luggage up and down the stairs.

It seems "the powers that be"  are hell bent on turning Pattaya into a mini Bangkok..complete with,mega malls,skytrain and sky walk, massive traffic jams,continued flooding,broken pavements and all other infrastructure crumbling...but..but look at the "mega malls"  it surely must be a

Exactly when did it become a world class destination? popular yes, but for what reasons? it will never become world class whilst the current lawlessness persists, the pavements are dangerous the packs of dogs roaming the streets, the rats on beach road also on some soi's and not to mention the safety or lack of on the roads but to name but a couple of reasons.......

The station is there, what lacks is double track, a connection to Suvarnabhumi on one side and a connection to U-Tapao at the other side.

It might help as the powers to be in Pattaya step off their high horses and forget about rails inside Pattaya/Jomtien.

There is an alternative, it is called trolleybuses.

No rails in the road, only a light version of overhead wires, if necessary dedicated lanes for the trolleybuses.

Clean, silent, much cheaper as a tram or lightrail or monorail.

Unless World Savings and City of Hope have suddenly relocated to Pattaya!!!  

 

Nice that they, or their consultants, are ripping off and republishing photos that have nothing to do with Thailand, much less Pattaya...

 

Why didn't they just republish a photo of the most famous monorail, which probably would be fitting for Pattaya....

 

Would be good, because those images would even replicate what Pattaya and its Monorail could look like when the town floods again...

The one question I ask is why now 

or why full stop 

the Chinese all arrive by bus 

also most of the Indians 

most of Europe Australia and America have stopped coming and now go to other Asian countries where they are welcomed and Te exchange rate is so much better than the inflated Thai bht

i have visited and lived in Thailand for the last 20 years this is the worst period in that time I have ever experienced I feel so sorry for the average Thai having to suffer with the lack of tourist who spend money with them 

Pattaya is like a ghost town now empty bars empty shops empty streets  so sad for once a fantastic country country ????????
