Popular Post sambum
What is it about Britain that seems to get everybody who posts on Thai Visa becoming overcome with emotion at the moment? It may be the fiasco about Brexit, and for that I don't blame them, but from a ThaiVisa post from 18 hours ago:- "Farang checkout thief who stole 2,000 baht from Thai shopper returns the money - He's British" Is there really any need to emphasise the fact in such an antagonistic way? And from a more recent post - admittedly it's a translation of a caption in Thai on aphotograph, but:- "Caption: Arrest of man from the land of gentlemen (Britain) Visa ran out 7 years ago. Sneakily running a bar in Hua Hin. He was arrested at house number 22/8 on Phoonsuk Road in downtown Hua Hin." Sarcastic in the extreme, and is there any need to publish his address other than to let potential housebrekers be aware that the house is unoccupied while he is in custody! It seems that for any "farang" story to be newsworthy these days, the nationality has to be British, and in most cases it seems to be negative comments. If the post is on a more positive note, then usually the headline is more vague e.g. "Foreign visitors clean beaches", or "Farang helps old lady to cross the road" - theoretical comments, but you get my drift? Does anybody else get this feeling of an increase in anti Brit sentiment, or am I just being paranoid? Edited June 14, 2019 by sambum
Popular Post glegolo
To be fair with you - I think you are a bit paranoid really. Of course drunken brits do their utmost to massacer the reputation of the brits but really? Are there people who not understand that there is idiots in every country. At least in mine (Sweden) there is a lot of them. Relax, englishmen for me at least are good in playing football and singing so all good on Abbey Road I guess. glegolo
CharlieH
In many cases the news articles are translated from the Thai original, it is often the Thai way to emphasise a nationality and no other reason. Before anyone decides to jump on the "bashing" wagon, regardless of which nationality, read the forum rule: 11) You will not post slurs, degrading or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, specific locations, Thai institutions such as the judicial or law enforcement system, Thai culture, Thai people or any other group on the basis of race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

richard_smith237
Wow... sensitive much ??? Time to chill with a cool one... There is also a thread about Vern Unsworth being awarded an MBE. Another about 'why does no one want to live in France' Its not just all negative about Brits... there is far more negativity about Thailand in these threads than any other nation, well, perhaps except China !... Lacessit
Americans and Australians are similarly emphasized when it comes to wrongdoing, so I wouldn't read too much into it. Brits and Australians enjoy extracting the urine from one another. Americans don't play cricket, so they don't understand. 1

marcusarelus
In the list of anti based on a random sample of 1072 posts the winner of the anti award goes to Thai people number one. No one else even close. But bringing up a distant 2nd is Chinese people, 3rd - folks from India. Then comes 4th place Yanks, 5th Brits. Everyone seems to love Canadians except people from Newfoundland.
Thaidream
Actually- I find most of the English I meet quite interesting as well as friendly. As an American- I enjoy a good conversation with most Nationalities. Getting a different perspective on things from another's point of view is often enlightening. As far as the OP- don't take the reporting personal;- it will soon be the turn of us Americans or our brethren the Aussies.

You can if you like break it down even further and say with total honestly that Yorkshire folk are the cream of all England, very true of course. Completely true the people here love to bash the Thais but if their own beloved nationality gets a bit of bad press they start to cry. I wonder when people will understand you got idiots everywhere Thai, English, Dutch, German, American. I guess its easier to bash people to feel superior for some people. 3
