Who needs a bike?

I love bikes but this video has convinced me to get a little car.  Peppy, room for the wifey, two kids and some cold ones in a cooler in the boot.  Rain, snow, no worries.  Perfect for driving in Thailand - you'd get a lot of respect running to 7-11 in one.

Reminds me of the last trip I took in a Tuk Tuk in Bangkok, Cowboy to Patpong 1988, unbeknown to us, the "pilot" was exploring the limits of YaBa, never have I been brave enough to get in another!

Back in 1977/78 when there was a midnight curfew in BKK, late night taxi rides back home from Patpong were pretty exciting.

The other day, I rode pillion on a Vietnamese bloke's bike. We wanted to cross a busy 2 lane highway and then go in the other direction. He was in top gear and drove right into the path of a speeding bus. I SCREAMED, fearing my last second on earth has come. But the bus driver swerved and thundered by.

He kept doing that. Getting into the path of cars which had green.

You want to see bad driving? Come to Vietnam!

Oh, and the bus driver 2 nights ago, during the monsoon. He kept holding a bloody phone to his ear while speeding through the night.
