Opposition rebuked for implicating Palang Pracharat leader in Krung Thai loan scandal

 

 

The Opposition has been rebuked for threatening to censure Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in the lower House if he goes ahead with the appointment of Palang Pracharat party leader Uttama Savanayana as finance minister.

 

Palang Pracharat deputy spokesman, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, said today that the Opposition should allow the government to perform its duties for a certain period of time before they seek to censure it.

 

He said he didn’t understand why the Opposition had to question the qualifications of Mr. Uttama given the fact that the latter had been cleared of any wrongdoing concerning the scandalous lending of a huge loan to the Krisda Mahanakorn Group by the state-run Krung Thai Bank during the government of prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Yep, must be some truth to the allegations otherwise defamation would be claimed .

Opposition is right why go after Thaksin for this crime and let others who were involved free. It seems the opposition is agreeing there was a crime committed with those loans and wants everyone involved punished. I wonder if they then accept too that their boss was guilty too.

 

Sickening to see how they are all involved in corruption on all sides.

 

 

If all they do is sling mud at each other every day, the average Thais may be able to go about their lives unmolested.   The army did not reform education or make the roads safer in the last five years, so why would anyone believe they will benefit Thailand now.  Let them bicker.

They don't like him.  Find another yes man. 

5 top executives of the bank signed the loan including Uttama. However only 3 were convicted. Some wondered in the legal circle whether there was selective prosecution and perhaps agenda driven.

This is going to be an Olympic event with the "winner" being contested.

In this country, "being cleared" of a wrongdoing does not necessarily equate to "not being guilty" of that wrongdoing.

If anybody knows who was involved in that criminal conspiracy, it would be the people that perpetrated it, aka known as the Shinawatras and their PTP puppets.

Yes, they should use the correct term/s, a blind eye was turned to....., the brown envelope negated the evidence produced, don't you know who I am - etc. 

They did not win the election fair and so need to take all the oppositions lip, guff and all.

Uttama alleged that too and he was not convicted. Meanwhile the 3 who got convicted and jailed said that Thaksin was not involved in the loan. Funny how the law works out when you served the establishment.

Call for more prosecutions in KTB loan scandal

A LAWYER called on officials yesterday to prosecute two more people for their alleged involved in the Krung Thai Bank loan scandal. Wanchai Bunnag met with Pol Lt-Colonel Banthoon Chimkra, Department of Special Investigation case office chief, and asked him to reopen the probe into Krung Thai’s loan to the Krisda Mahanakorn Group.

He wants the DSI to investigate whether former board members of the bank, Information and Communication Technology Minister Uttama Savanayana and Chainarong Indharameesup, were involved in illegally approving the loan.

Uttama and Chainarong were among the board members who approved the loan but have not faced charges like the other members.

Do some more reading, there's good reasons why he was also changed in this event. 

Totally unethical / ironic / laughable for the 'gov't' to make these statements about allowing the gov't to do their work, etc.

 

If they want credibility they should drop the silly charges against Khun Thanathorn and allow him to do his duty as an opposition / opposition leader.

 

By the way, anybody want to take a bet on how long it will take for the charges against Khun Thanathorn to be heard? My bet is 5 years, what's yours?

So it was just their generous nature that led them to slipping a million or two to his son and ex-wife (via her secretary). But haven't you declared before that the whole case was "politically motivated" and should be ignored?

I don't believe they would be able to drag that on for five years, it is interesting to see how the double standards have already been applied, as the 31 under investigation for the same offence, are not being prevented from attending lower house sessions.

Maybe you can tell me what happen to the 10Billion loan and what happen to the 100 others who got the loan from the same source. His loan was 10 M Baht not a million or two. Do you really know about this case or just trying to bait.

Given the Thai propensity for myopic tunnel vision the PTP minions, in their zeal to stir trouble, probably forgot their big boss was the crook who sanctioned this particular fraud; and that other key players have been tried, convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison. This case was one of the big ones that made him do a runner.

It wasn't a 10 million baht "loan". It was a gift. One that he gave back quickly when the sticky brown stuff hit the fan! Just like his dad, hopes if he gets caught he can give it back and all is well!

 

Thaksin was the man who sanctioned this. The other main players who've been tried and convicted got 18 years.

 

Glad you support a lengthy prison sentence for the main man. The boy was just given a little present.

What's also very possible is that the current coalition falls apart fairly quickly and what follows dilutes / cancels any ability to drag Khun Thanathorn's case further. I hope.
