chiangrai Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I have some kind of an infection under the shin in my right cheek. It's been there for months. I always have a few lone pimples that go away of their own acordbut this is more serious. Ive tried bursting it and putting Bernadine on it for a while but it kept coming back so I went to my doctor. She gave me an antibiotic cream but that didn't work either. I don't know what to do next. It feels like there are lots of small pimples deep under the skin. Every time one of them comes to the surface I burst it but I can still feel 4or5 more deep down. The only thing I can think of doing next is going to a pharmacy and asking for an antibiotic that is good for skin infections. Does any one have any better advice. I
RJRS1301 Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Get a referral to a specialist, you should have a blood test, before embarking on anti-biotics to test for sensitivities and confirmation of infection 1

chiangrai Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 Going to see a specialist will be my "if all else fails" approach. I think a good dose of antibiotics would do. I'm just trying to find the right ones. I see that the penicillin family is good but I'm trying to find the name of the specific one.
ukrules Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I would take a course of Dicloxacillin if you believe it's a 'boil' type infection caused by a staph infection.
chiangrai Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 Right, Do you know how many mg,how many times a day for how many days. I weigh 65Kg
Dumbastheycome Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 I have an issue with something that sounds similar. Long term.
BritManToo Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 (edited) HiV test for a start, strange skin infections can be an early indication of an immune system problem. Cellulitus is the other obvious infection, easily cured with antibiotic pills, Amoxicillin 500, 2 pills a day for 5 days around 50-100bht for generic, cream probably won't fix it. Skin cancer is another possibility. You really need to see a hospital doctor. Edited July 11, 2019 by BritManToo 1

chiangrai Posted July 11, 2019 Author Posted July 11, 2019 Cellulitis is what it sounds like. I will try with antibiotics before I see a specialist.
potless Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Sorry, I got diverted. Just to expand on my previous posts, anyone can at any time develop an allergy to anything. Food that you've eaten for years without a problem and medicines as well.

OP should see a doctor though rather than self medicate. Unless the outer cheek is red and tender to the touch this is nto cellulitis. 1
chiangrai Posted July 12, 2019 Author Posted July 12, 2019 Yes it is red and sore if you touch it. What type of drugs should be used for this type of problem. Wikkipedia says Amistroxicilin for cellulitis.

The 21hrs you have just waited is significant. Edited July 12, 2019 by BritManToo

From personal experience , that should be the FIRST place to go , as you usually waste time and money going to various places and it works out cheaper to go to someone who knows what they are doing first , rather spending money on people who have no idea what they are doing 2

My personal opinion about doctors has been expressed before, so each person can make their own decisions. Most people are probably better off to seek out a doctor.

CMoldie Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 In Chiang Mai I would suggest going to: Dr Vachiraporn Sujaritwanichpong (Dr Vachiraporn) Chiang Mai RAM Skin Centre 053 920372 for appointments. She trained at Boston University and speaks fluent English. I see her quite often. A medication that I have to take makes me prone to skin infections. I also know maybe 5 or 6 other expats who go to her and speak highly of her.
