BANGKOK, 12 July 2019 (NNT) - Leading figures in the Prayut II government have assured the voting public that they can restore confidence in the country and are not worried about any weak points in the government involving the controversial qualifications of some cabinet ministers, and lawsuits.

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, gave an assurance that the new government would be able to restore confidence in the country though the private sector forecast of national economic growth of 2.9-3.3. The new government will put forward economic measures to be carried out by a new economic team with the cooperation of every political party. He said the cabinet ministers are well suited to their portfolios.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said today the lawsuit filed earlier in a foreign country against Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Capt Thammanat Prompao, no means disqualified him as an MP or Minister.

However, he said the Opposition has the right to launch an ethical investigation into it.

Meanwhile, Capt Thammanat reconfirmed his innocence in the matter, saying he had not been involved in the alleged drug trafficking in Australia and that he had only known something about it. He admitted that he had served eight months in jail and then returned to live a normal life in Thailand and that the case was over.

Digital Minister Puttipong Punnakanta said he was not concerned about a lawsuit filed against him for alleged involvement in street protests. He commented that all cabinet ministers have passed the initial qualifications process and that every one of them is suited to their position and will perform carefully.

Prime Minister’s Office Minister Tewan Liptapanlop, says he is prepared and ready to work to the best of his ability and to work with honesty. He commented that he was confident of the government’s stability and that there would be no problems between coalition parties.

So he only knew about the 1.2 billion $AUD worth of drugs being smuggled into Aust.  As a politician he didn't inform anyone of it.  Could it be he didn't want to disturb Australia.  I wonder who the thai figure is who had millions of $AUD in property siezed in Australia.

Certainly doesn't look like they're worried about capability and culpability! In other words they're admitting that they are a bunch of useless criminals asking people to trust them!

the angles.

So at least three cabinet members are 'unconcerned' about lawsuits.  The World is holding its breath for the next scandal to hit this 'democracy'.

Good job Khun Prayut. Thailand welcomes your newly formed government as I witnessed last night at a function hosted by our regional government office. Many locals and villages attended and were just glad to see stability and security within Thailand, they expressed comment that before Khun Prayut Chan O Cha took control, Thailand was in bad shape with protests, road blocks, lawlessness and mayhem. They commented that now they just want to continue to get on with their work and daily lives.

Those who understand Thai politics will know that history has shown Thailand can only function properly when an authoritarian leads the country.

Now Steven, you are sounding more like Prayut with every post.

Are you training for the position of propaganda minister? Or for some new comedy show?

There is no way he would spend 8 months in jail for just knowing about some drug case.

I think this requires more investigation to ascertain the truth but no details exist even on the Auslii site. Maybe the details of the conviction were suppressed after pressure from the Thai embassy.

But something is definitely not adding up

Maybe a lot added up, too much to be refused.

They remind me of Chamberlain's appeasement policy where the British believed that Herr Hitler was a reasonable man so they just laid down and let him do what he wanted. Why? Because they wanted peace at any price. Hitler realised, of course, that Britain wouldn't try to stop him, no matter what he did.

By the time the world knew that Hitler had hoodwinked them, he was ensconced in Europe.

What happened? Appeasement led to war.

Sadly, I believe that the future will be the same internally for this lovely country.

Capt Thammanat is as bent as they come. He will fit in nicely with the rest of the crooks in Team Prayut.

he is charged with insurrection for bangkok shutdown and obstructing elections in 2014.

but first of all - he is a fascist, right hand of suthep

Sadly, there are quite a number of fascists and fascist sympathisers in Thailand (many of them from the 'educated' middle classes).

It is truly shocking.

It means the thick envelopes and heavy pastry boxes are still pouring in and are beginning to take up a lot of space.

The Dear Leader and his gang of loyal confederates now have much work to do sorting through all of these 'contributions' and insuring that the correct selection of good will gifts are awarded to the correct people.

Serving the nation is a difficult and time-consuming job.
