rebecca wilson gave the club (west coast) a big serve in yesterdays adelaide advertiser, it's worth a read

Is Rebecca Wilson related to that other journo b.... Caroline Wilson? She has it in for the Eagles as well.

Nothing further on the Cousins rumour. As stated he didn't show for the Club trophy/Mainwaring rememberence night. (The best clubman award will now be known as "The Mainy")

The Eagles have gone to print to deny the rumours.

WEST Coast boss Trevor Nisbett has moved to reassure the future of Ben Cousins by quashing rumours the troubled rover could retire.

``There's rumours doing the rounds and I can categorically deny them all,'' Nisbett said.

``Ben is not retiring, he has not asked to be traded. He is 100 per cent behind the Eagles.''

Cousins elected not to attend the Eagles awards on Friday night.

It may just have been a Dockers beatup. I wouldn't put it past them. :o

Cousins arrested

WA Police has arrested Ben Cousins after pulling him over in his car, at 10.30am Perth time and searching it in the Perth inner city suburb of Northbridge .

Cousins' car, a blue four wheel drive, has been impounded. It's believed a second West Coast Eagles player, who is yet to be named, has also been taken into custody from a separate location. Two women with Cousins at the time he was arrested have been released by police.

Cousins was shirtless when arrested, his midrift displaying a large tattoo which reads, "such is life." The arrest was witnessed and filmed by National Nine News in Perth.

Detectives from the Gang Crime Squad targetted Cousins and searched his car for two hours on the roadside in front of a gathering crowd of office workers. The police videotaped their search.

National Nine News reporter, Grant Taylor, was on the scene and says Cousins was made to sit in the back of the police car handcuffed. "He's been taken by detectives, shirtless, into custody, to the traffic department where I can only assume he is being tested for blood alcohol limit and drugs," Taylor said.

Cousins is still being questioned by Police. He is expected to be charged tonight but at this stage, the nature of those charges, is unclear.

A spokesman for the AFL says the league has been informed by the West Coast Eagles of the incident and will wait for all the information before making comment.

Cousins has never tested positive to illicit drugs but flew to the United States for rehabilitation earlier this year and apologised for his conduct. He returned to play for the club on a number of conditions, believed to include a zero tolerance clause to testing positive to banned substances, staying away from underworld figures and not falling foul of the law.

Cousins, a former skipper of the club, was a close friend of Eagles legend Chris Mainwaring who died suddenly earlier this month. Cousins was one of the last to see him alive.

When Cousins made his comeback, West Coast Eagles president, Dalton Gooding, said Cousins was on his last chance. He refused at the time to say whether that meant another indiscretion would mean instant dismissal but there is little doubt the club's board will need to hold an emergency meeting on Cousins' future. If the club doesn't sack him, the AFL has the power to deregister the player.

I guess this is the end of a brilliant footy player, but flawed personality.

(The other Eagles (former) player in the car with Cousins was his good mate, Daniel Chick)

Just put up the same post and have deleted it to save electrons.

He is such a fool and a sad waste of a talented young man. Eagles do not need this and it will have serious repurcussions across the league

am still waiting on news here in Adelaide about it, what do you reckon croc, if he has done it again, does he get another chance.

wendel sailor is paying the price, how serious is the AFL about drugs

I think that if he is guilty of drugs then the AFL will have no alternative but to deregister him. He was given a second chance by the club and they came under a lot of criticism for it. The club tried to help him and it has come back to haunt them with this latest arrest.

The latest is that the drugs found were prescription, not coke, ice, etc. (masking agent?) However, it is an offence to be in possession of these drugs if they were not prescribed to yourself. Cousins refusal to provide blood and saliva samples will probably be the biggest charge.

I think the club will sack him. They are meeting today, but may wait until after his court appearance tomorrow.

The cops certainly went for him in a big (public) way for relatively minor offences. They obviously have long memories and hold grudges.

he is big news here, even bigger in perth I reckon.

the most popular vision is of him shirtless showing his tatoo gothic style "such is life"

There are emails circulating with pictures of Cousins shirtless and the "Police Are Currently Targeting - stupid tattoos" sign. :D

Apparently there is a Federal election just called in Australia, but you have to go to about page 6 to find anything other than Ben stories in the local rag "The Toilet Paper Express" :o

Drug Charges Dropped

Police today announced they have dropped the drug possession charge against Cousins. Apparently, they made a mistake, it's not illegal to have diazapan(?) tablets.

Oops, sorry about the public arrest and loss of career! :o

The second charge of refusing drug testing will stand and be contested in January. Meanwhile the Eagles have stated the sacking stands. and Cousins has left to resume rehab. in the US.

The other charges will probably be dropped as well....they dont hold much water now.

the sacking should stand though as he hasnt complied with his new contract....

7 rounds in and some surprises.....

West Coast and Dockers in the bottom 3....we expected Melbourne to be there... :o

Definately not what was expected.

Barry "the Thug" Hall suspended for a king hit....That wasnt expected was it.

Danny "the Liverpool kisser" Kerr out for a few as well

No 3 for Carlton can consider himself lucky not to be facing the tribunal.

Could be an interesting year

Saints supporter myself. ex Tasmanian and VAFA amateur player from Old Geelong FC.

Very disappointing game last night. Saints just not effective enough with the ball and an unfortunate incident with the time-keeper not hitting the siren button before a kick for a pies goal was plain hurtful. Pies too good on the day (night) and the Saints as piss weak a team as much as Ross Lyon on match-ups! Goes to prove a team of champions does not make a champion team!

Some great games on this weekend. Can't believe how well the hawks and dogs are doing this year!

You won't get much of a response to AFL here - many have tried.

Saw the Hawks - Power game yesterday on ABC Asia Pacific. Great game but skills down on occasions. The comentators were fuc#en idiots - Channel 10 I think. Dennis Comete (sorry spelling) must have been rolling around the floor laughing

we have had a response over the years, but as you see the poms have a stranglehold on footy comment, but we can only try.

the Crows had a great win anyway and people can comment as seen fit :o

Looks like the Dockers managed to grab defeat from the jaws of victory. :D

Why am I getting flashbacks to the beginning of the Chris Connely era? They actually have some talent there at the moment. :o
