My son was born in Thailand and he now has a US passport along with a Thai passport. He will be traveling with me along with his mother back to the US this fall. I just wanted to verify that there was no special visas or paperwork necessary for him. Thank you for any feedback.

When you leave you shouldn't have any problems. You'll show them the Thai passport first, then when they want to know why he doesn't have a US visa show them his US passport. We have done this several times with our son who also has both a Thai and US passport.

At Airline check-in: Show both passports to the airline. US passport shows them child doesn't need visa for final destination (and they'll then be allowed to issued a boarding pass). Thai passport shows you need a departure card.

Exiting Thailand: Produce Thai passport, filled in departure card and boarding pass. Thai immigration will staple in the arrivals card into the Thai passport to be used on return to Thailand.

Entering US: Show US passport.

Depart US: On US passport.

Enter Thailand: On Thai passport filling in the arrivals card which has been stapled into the passport.
