Naamblar2014, clearly there was very bad mistreatment of the calves in that video.  That doesn't mean that ALL farms mistreat their animals.  You cannot project one bad apple across all of the dairy farm sector.

The calves are separated from their mothers not long after birth, because we can't have baby cows drinking cows milk.  That stuffs for profit. That on its on is mistreating animals.  Put yourself in the shoes of the victims and tell me again mistreatment is not widespread.

because we can't have baby cows drinking cows milk

Well, if we applied the same concept to human babies, many who are bottle-fed from birth, then half the female population would be guilty...

Perhaps I should have said the baby cow and mother are forcibly separated.  your strawman argument has no force or violence involved.

Dairy cows are usually spent by 4-5 years-old in the industry and considered unprofitable.  (usual life time 20+ years) They are thus sent to slaughter often while pregnant.

Sounds like BS to me, why would you impregnate a cow you intended to slaughter?

It costs money, and would serve no purpose.

They are only impregnated so that they give milk.  Like humans cows produce milk for their babies.  If not pregnant,  no milk.

Because real men drink milk and beat on babies.  Absolutely horrific.

worked in a large slaughter house in Alberta in the early 70's and used to see lots of baby cows fall onto the floor from out of their mothers, while they were being chainsawed in half along the disassembly line..

Milk arrives after the baby is born.

Nobody cares about human fetus, why would anyone care about cow fetus?

Genetic engineering enables a cow to continually provide milk without interruption.

I find it difficult to understand how people could not care, but here is an interesting talk regarding health by excluding dairy.  maybe people will care about themselves. Dairy at 7 minutes.

There are so many different options.  Soy milk, almond milk,  coconut milk, rice milk and others.  It all comes down to personal choice so it's best to test until you find one that suits. Some are sweetened so it's important to look at sugar content and perhaps go for unsweetened.  Again down to personal preference.   IMO I find almond milk tastes better than cows milk and actually now find the taste of cows full cream milk to taste too fatty. I suppose I could have swapped to a lighter dairy option but considered the plant based milk to be a healthier choice and a more compassionate option.  I like sanitarium so good almond milk but as it is an import, it is a little pricey 128-170 baht. But you have local produced options to consider like lactasoy 1 litre sweetened for about 30 baht. I see bigc has 500ml unsweetened or sweetened  for 15 baht so cheap enough for a taste test. Many other options available all over and in 711 so never out of reach.

Every animal from the dairy industry is eventually sent to be slaughtered.  Be compassionate Choose plant based
