Goalkeepers

Featured Replies

Well I can't think of any Goalkeepers that have gone on to have good managerial careers.

I know Dino Zoff managed Italy..

I have been thinking about this for days now and its bugging me.

So..can anyone name ANY Goalkeepers that have had good mangerial careers in the English leagues?

Another point is:

"What positions did the EPL currrent Mangers play in" ???

Maybee you can fill in the gaps and we will see if its defenders, midfielders or strikers that are in the majority

Man Utd......................Fergie ?

Chelsea......................Morinho ?

Liverpool Benitez ?

Arsenal Wenger ?

Bolton Big sam Striker

Spurs Jol ?

Reading Coppell midfielder

Everton Moyes ?

Newcastle Roeder defender

Man city Pearce defender

Boro Southgate defender

Blackburn Hughes Striker

Portsmouth Redknapp Midfielder/winger

Charlton Pardew Midfielder

Fulham Coleman Midfielder

Sheff utd Warnock ?

Watford Boothroydd ?

Villa O'Neil Midfielder

Wigan Jewell Striker ??

West Ham Curbishley Midfielder

So without the missing positions.....and I dont even know what positions the "Top Four" Managers played in????

Midfielders 6

defenders 3

Strikers 3

So thats 8 missing..please feel free to fill in the gaps..or correct errors I have made.

well its something to do :o

Cheers

Thanks for pointing out that CC was a defender.

Still looks like no Goalkeepers who have made it in the big time though ?

In the 80's Newcastle United had ex-goalkeeper Willie McFall as manager. I think he was in charge for about 3 seasons before eventually being sacked.

martin Jol was a midfielder for WBA in the 80's. Pretty handy too
