Don't believe these Thai statements however there is something up with this product, just happy I never used it for it doesn't appear to be as safe as everyone says..

The only thing that's up is the number of unwarranted scare stories based on ignorance, which has made you and many others believe there is 'something up'.  Possibly you also come from the US where there there is a witch hunt aimed at vaping.

  • Why would anyone smoke a dirty, filthy eCigarette when they can readily buy these healthy specimens! Keep amazing us, Thailand!

Rubbish, like everything here.   If only they would use this kind of logic to ban burning of fields and forrests and smoking tobacco?

  • So could the good doctor or anyone form the disease control center please advise why have normal cigarettes  not been 100% banned. It seems ludicrous that you only banned e cigs when clearly acco

An article in a local (Thai) newspaper reported, this morning, that there are 18,000 Thai Buddhists monks under medical treatment for smoking related health issues and that there is a push to discourage smoking amongst the ranks.

How does this relate to vaping?

Oddly enough, that campaign by the Truth Initiative, formerly American Legacy Foundation, is funded by...... big tobacco, as part of the settlement from a lawsuit by 47 US States.

and yet i can happily walk into a pharmacy and buy as much nicotine gum as i want..

or into a 7/11 and buy all the cigarettes i want..

so why e-cigarettes??!

maybe its because they actually work in stopping smoking cigarettes?

wake me up when they ban NICOTINE full stop otherwise i'm just gonna file all these "warnings" under B&LLSH*T

Ah yes, the world renowned Dr Khajorn Kaewjarat.

Wonder why Thai experts are so polar opposite in their thinking to the rest of the world to much som tam fish paste and chilli's frying their pea I suppose????

Driving a vehicle, riding a motor cycle or travelling in a minivan can cause death, mutilation and permanent disability too!

You beat me to it my thoughts exactly

Clearly the Government and tobacco industry do not want a reduction in Income and Revenue caused by the reduction in the addiction to the carcinogens (not nicotine!) in cigarettes through vaping and wish to perpetuate the addiction to cigarettes and the commensurate appalling death rate associated with it. Banning cigarettes completely would save 70000 lives a year.

Surely there were some studies done here in Thailand for the good doctor to make such a statement.

Or is he the same kind of doctor as the Vets at import station, who looks at Siamese cat and asks what breed is the cat or looks at pure bred bullmastiff but because papers say labrador he stamps her in as a labrador

Or could be one of those really skilled doctors who apply band aide to fix broken fingers

Somtam and Para also causes cancer according to local experts, yet they in no rush to ban it ????

If they could legally vape than 18000 would not be sick or needed any treatment ????

Considering Thailand's low average IQ, I wouldn't worry too much about brain damage. Cancer, on the other hand, is obviously a real concern.

Imagine if they could use google maps that says next left or next right? That would be a real medical breakthrough

Second hand vaping, also known as inhaling water vapor. Yes, ban it. Banbanbanbanbanbanbanbanbanbanbanbanbanbanban. Samarn must be giggling at this STD office.

So does EMF, but no one's reporting on that.

Absolute unadulterated rubbish, totally devoid of any truth or facts. For a start, Nicotine does NOT cause cancer. The Nicotine in an ecig is pharmsceutical grade nic, exactly the same priducymt from the same factories as used in "medical" patches, sprays, and gums, which are available over the counter with no sales restrictions in place. Even WHO has admitted its OK to use these "medical" products over a lifetime if the alternative is smoking as there is no known signuficant long term health consequences from their use over a lifetime. And note that pharma nic patch contains 30 times the amount of Nicotine than one cigarette stick. The tar and chemicals in cigarettes kill smokers. Not one person has ever died for inhaling vape from an ecig. Ever. Ecigs save lives. Tax them and let smokers have a life-saving choice <deleted>.

There are plenty of excellent doctors in Thailand.

None of them are civil servants though.

So you saying this doctor is excellent or not?

such a nonsense... send this minister and doctor to real world for some education !

I am all for banning these things. I do not want to breathe in someone else's vaping chemicals. There is no shortage of information out there on the dangers of these.  People ending up in coma, lung damage, illness...not to mention batteries blowing up in smokers face and disfiguring them. Doesn't take much common sense to imagine what the long term effects of inhaling these chemical concoctions will be. This is something Thailand has gotten right in banning them.
