Alternative to Accuweather

Featured Replies

For years I have used the Accuweather site for Chiang Mai to get an estimate of the coming weather. They had a convenient format where you could see their predictions for both the next 6 or 8 hours as well as the coming 4 or 5 days on one page. (How accurate this all was is another topic). Now today they have apparently changed the format, for the worse. You can't now get a combined hourly plus a few days look-ahead single page. Plus they are infested with ads and demanding you turn off the ad blocker.

Question: any recommendations for a convenient, informative alternative to Accuweather for a quick check on upcoming weather in CM.

try yr.no and search for chiang mai gate to get a city forecast away from the mountains. its pretty good but as you know forecasting weather is notoriously hard here due to the terrain.

I've been using Accuweather for some time now.  I haven't noticed a change; but, I view their site on my PC, not a phone.  Seems to me you can still "see their predictions for both the next 6 or 8 hours as well as the coming 4 or 5 days on one page."

Also, no trouble with AdBlock for me.

I have no problems with the various options, 24hr today, longer range etc.  Also no probs with adverts using AdBlock plus.

Just google Chiang Mai Weather there's a heap of sites. They hardly ever agree  but you can take an average????

How do you see whether it will rain heavily that day? It's not quite intuitive.

change the precip to 1 hour and press the next button or scroll to the timeline and deviate up in 1 hr increments, you have to adjust it to your needs but it surprised me with it's accuracy for a model predictor.

Very strange. The single page format JJ2001 posted above is what I used to get. I view the site on my PC also. Starting yesterday now I am getting an entirely new (worse) format with ads.

Try clearing your browser history and cache... might have an effect.

Weather Underground Chiang Mai.  Can be slow to load, but works well enough.

Radar Loop Data.  Cross-hairs intersect in Lamphun.  Look slightly north for Chiang Mai.  Coverage area includes Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Song, Phrae, Nan, Tak, and Phitsanulok.  Updated every 15 minutes GMT.  This time of year you can see the rain coming.
