Jonathan Fairfield Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 German man in Pattaya seriously injured after being attacked by an elephant Image: Manager A German man suffered serious injuries after being attacked by an elephant in Pattaya on Saturday morning. The 69 year old man was cycling along Soi Nong Mai Kaen in Nong Prue, which runs by an elephant village. Thai media reported the man cycles the route everyday, only today, he was confronted by an elephant. Despite locals and members of staff from the elephant village warning the man to leave the area, he stayed. The elephant then became more distressed and charged, resulting in serious injuries to his German man’s leg. The German man received first aid at the scene and was then transferred to hospital for further treatment. Vets later managed to subdue the elephant by shooting him with a tranquilliser dart. An investigation into why the elephant attacked the German has been launched. The elephant had recently been brought to Pattaya to perform for tourists. "involved" you mean we still try to dominate them for our own financial gain. Everyone should look up the videos which show how a wild elephant is initially broken. 15 4

Popular Post Myran Posted August 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 24, 2019 "resulting in serious injuries to his German man’s leg." Noooo! Not his German man's leg! Anything but that. Curse these animals, always attacking our German man's legs. On a more serious note: you've only got yourself to blame, Mr. German guy. 7 2 4

Those elephant villages are in the middle of lots of housing estates, it was only a matter of time before this happened. 2
Popular Post BestB Posted August 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 24, 2019 There is no doubt it is wrong to use this majestic beasts for tourist entertainment but the knuckle head was told to go away as he was making elephant uncomfortable but of course why would he listen? 12 1

moonseeker Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Tiger on boy. Elephant on man. Yearly headlines.... A huge and obviously potentially dangerous elephant is by the road, and you're saying it makes sense that the German guy didn't listen to the warnings of other people because "he cycles down that soi every day"? That's got to be the most brain dead reasoning I've read all week. 2 3 3

Popular Post Inn Between Posted August 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 24, 2019 Well, what else did he expect? Isn't it common knowledge that elephants and Germans are natural-born enemies? ???? But seriously, why wouldn't somebody heed a warning from the people who manage the elephants that something was wrong. If he'd taken the route many times without incident, but this particular day the people are telling him to go back, then something should register that the situation isn't normal and potentially dangerous. I, for one, will not be donating to his GoFundMe account as I believe in the Darwin Theory and suppressing of the "stupid gene" whenever possible. 3

Popular Post mikebell Posted August 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 24, 2019 Accepted that the German should have heeded advice, but why was the elephant roaming a public highway with no restraints/handler? 5

mike787 Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Welcome to Thailand everyone. Avoid ladyboyz, roads, angry thais, road rage, and elephants...and if you can play the immigration game, should minimize a lot of unnecessary BS....good luck.... 2
bendejo Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Brings to mind silly old elephant from jokes from childhood. What did Tarzan say when he saw the elephants charging? "Here come the grapes." He had poor vision and couldn't get glasses in the jungle.
