I know there is a free transfer bus between the 2 airports for passengers who have a flight in and out of each airport the same day but does it also apply if you arrive one day and fly out the next? I have read conflicting reports on this and the website doesn't specify.

 

Does anyone know from experience? 

Good question, I have the same issue.

Arriving at Suvarnabhumi and flying out of Don Muang the bext day.

As i stay at the Don Muang Amari hotel i would like to use the free airport bus. (i have the ticket for next days flight to show to them)
