Yeah, I know what you mean.

I reckon there should be a parade of the contestants in 'Monday work clothes' : yellow shirt, a flowery skirt little skirt and some 100 bhat shoes (a pair of reading glasses optional) - I reckon they'd be truly scrumptious, just like my little lady is. :o

Visit her weblog with its many photos:

and in another thread someone is complaining about photos like this of young thai ladies.

Only person complaining in that thread is the woman in the article originally posted.

Mrs. Rabiebrat Pongpanit, the chairwoman of the Association for Promoting Warmth and Happiness in Families, says many complaints have been made against sexually appealing photographs of celebrities and models on media releases. She says these photographs do not set a good example to Thai youths as celebrities and models are recognized members of the society.

Hasn't this silly woman got some washing up to do? Or is this a leg pull?

Lovely teen is new beauty 'ambassador'

Statuesque Farung "Kwang" Yuthithum is the new Miss Thailand Universe 2007. The Pathum Thani native was the tallest of this year's contestants at 179 centimetres. Her victory was announced on Saturday at the Bangkok Convention Hall, Central Plaza Lat Phrao.

The 33-24-33 beauty said the win was "a dream since I was a child".

Farung credited her figure, intellect and talent as a piano teacher as strengths that helped her to stand out among the contestants.

Her mother was once a beauty contestant and this encouraged the 19-year-old to give the competition a go. Her love of dressing up and looking beautiful helped, too.

This is the third beauty contest for the applied liberal arts student after the Miss U-League and Miss Teen Thailand events. The English major admits to being "quiet" although her mother said she was "always a leader".

Farung's father is a provincial prison deputy director. He encouraged her to lead and help others. "I've always wanted her to be a leader so she can communicate and establish understanding with other young adults," he said.

Her skill in English and her liking for the language has instilled a desire to work as a diplomat. "I like to talk to others. Being a diplomat is an honour; you can be a representative of Thailand," she said.

She told judges the tolerance and prudence learned from her mother were virtues for both women and men.

Farung will give her Bt2 million in winnings to her mother.

"It is my mother's dream that motivated me to reach mine," Farung said.

I never get these Thai beauty contests. The contestants are never that good-looking. I can see better looking women walking down my soi any day of the week.

That's what makes Thailand so liveable... :o

That, and it appears a nose job too. Most probably have had a procedure or two done anymore.

Not all or even most women devote their lives to / or aspire to participate in beauty contests.

It'll get me out of Thailand too - on a free ticket.

Reminds me of a young lad attending a Career Guidance meeting. He said that he wanted to work with people. They found him a job at the local crematorium. :o:D :D

A degree of intellect beyond my understanding.

" I see better girls walking down my street everyday" ... Liars!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 179 centimeters, I think he might have meant Katoeys. She appears to have gone for the Hollywood style jutting chin job (photographs better in movies I guess) All things considered however, I still would not kick her out of my bed for eating cookies.

Thailand is never going to win Miss Universe ever again if they continue awarding the national title to Thai-Chinese girls with the locally-sought after best looks - white with Chinese features. To the Thais that is beauty. Unfortunately though, the judges can figure it out that such looks are not that sought-after on the international scene.

Even though even my wife is a fair Thai-Chinese, to me the prettiest girl was the darkened-skin runner-up. She had a great natural smile (unlike the winner) and had a lot of charisma about her. Now, she had the looks to really contend Miss Universe. I am afraid that this winner is not going to get anywhere in the finals.

The fuddy-duddy golden-oldie judges have to realize that the International scene wants real Thai-Thai looks and not the imported Chinese one. Anyway, how can Thailand compete with the Chinese? The country has 500 million women to choose from.

Thailand has only had one internationally aclaimed Super Model in the past decade. Who was she? She was dark-skinned, large buxom and sexy Isarn looks. Absolutely the kind of girl who would stand a chance winning the coveted international title.

Hehe, no. I don't remember her name, but she's back home in Issan now after unfortunately getting involved with drugs (big surprise in that biz), going through rehab, etc.

Depends which region of China, to be fair, but the average Thai girl is a lot better-looking than her Chinese counterpart, imo.

Yeah these girls are very beautiful, most times rich...and with a lot of silicom...

I always think that these woman impress the same than the ones in the Olympics, who are in the final of the 100mt race.....they run this distance in between 10.5 and 10 seconds.

But those ones who never had made it to the finals and still run the race in between 10.501 and 15 seconds.....are never famous, are unknown and even ignored.....but still they are extraordinary...

I like them better...and there are so many of them!!

:o Oh dear! *chuckle*

Personally, I don't like those pointy-chin implant things that seem to be de rigeur for anyone in the modelling / beauty biz these days. With the allied nose and regulation boob job, the girls all start to look the same after a while. :D
