Just noticed AIS Fibre has a neat new feature....you can toggle your internet speed up or down.   Like on my 300/100 plan I can toggle to various download and upload speeds which does not approximately exceed 400Mb which is what you get when adding my plan's download (300) and upload (100) speeds together.   I haven't did any speed toggles (changes) yet since I just noticed this new feature....maybe it just come out today...but I do plan to experiment over the next week or so.

Anyway, take a look at below snapshots I took with some notes I added...I think the snapshots/notes will be self-explanatory.   This Speed Toggle sounds like a very neat feature.  Remember, you would need to be on an AIS Fibre plan for most of below menus to appear for you.

If you have AIS Fibre when going to above weblink it will show and offer a variety of things such as your account profile, change some basic router settings, change (toggle) your plan's speed, and view a User Guide.  The guide is only in Thai language but it's a very short & sweet guide which you can cut & paste into Google Translator to read....after reading the guide you realize you don't even need the guide to use the new feature/menus.

And regarding the speed toggle, you can change the speeds to a different setting after only 5 minutes.  If don't like or need a certain speed setting after a while then just wait at least 5 minutes and you can change to another download/upload speed settings.  Available download/upload speed settings will vary depending on your plan.

I have a 300Mb/100Mb plan.  When I open above weblink and select Change Internet Speed it reports a selection of "Full Speed Download" which gives a download/upload speed of 300/100.  Basically it's defaulting to my plan's basic speeds.

But if I was to change the setting to "Overdrive Download" then my speeds would change to download 400Mb and upload only 1Mb

If I was to change the setting to "Symmetry" then my speeds would change to download 200Mb and upload 200Mb.

If I was to change the setting to "Full Speed Upload" then my speeds would change to download 100Mb and upload 300Mb.

If I was to change the setting to "Full Speed Upload" then my speeds would change to download of only 1Mb and upload 400Mb.

Nope....it can not make your international speed significantly better.  Well, if you select a setting which greatly increases your upload or download speed you might some some significant international speed change.   Just something to adjust your plan's core speeds.

What setting a person may choose depends a lot on how they use their internet.   If they "upload" a ton then maybe changing the setting to give more upload speed would be beneficial.  Or for those who want a Symmetrical speed plan where the download and upload speeds are equal they could change the setting to Symmetry.

I did play with the Speed Toggle feature a little before 1pm today.   I first did some speedtest.net tests to Bangkok and San Francisco on my 300/100 plan.  I live in Bangkok.   Did three measurements to each location and then averaged them.   I  then toggled it from 300/100 to 200/200 (Symmetry).   The speed change was immediate....no waiting around a minute or so.  Repeated the speed tests and did the average.

For the Bangkok to Bangkok tests the speeds slightly exceeded the 300/100 and 200/200 speeds by approx 10% on download and upload.

For the tests to San Francisco there was no significant difference in download/upload speeds.   And in fact, although not significant the 200/200 speeds averages were a "hair better" than the 300/100 speeds...but hey, if I had run more test that might have changed.   I'm not going to identity the specific San Francisco speeds as international speed can change greatly depending on the server you are testing to even when testing to the same location.  Summary: no significant difference in international speed between the 300/100 and 200/200 settings.

I then toggled back from 200/200 to 300/100 and the change was immediate.   I was not interested in testing any of the other speed selections like the 100/300, 400/1 or 1/400 speed selections available for my plan since the 300/100 speeds are probably the best for me especially since I don't do any significant uploading....just the occasional upload of a small document or something like that.

Yea...nice little feature that might come in handy for some depending on how they use their internet, how they hook up their devices within their residence, etc.

After I changed my internet speed from website, my speed towards Singapore went up from 2-10 Mbps to 200 Mbps in overdrive download option. That's amazing!

Do you have to do it every 24 hours ?

Whatever speed toggle setting/speeds you choose remain that way until you use speed toggle to change them.  Summary: nope, don't change every 24 hours...remains until you change it to something else.
