Yes, this is correct. To blame Iran shooting from the southern border area of Iraq, the missiles would have to come from a nnw direction not wnw.

I read it as Iran stating they are prepared for a war of defence given the direct accusation by the US.

There are many players in the chaos in the middle east but Iran as the convenient fall guy for almost all blame is aware of the potential for a major escalation.

Here is a google maps screenshot of Abqaiq.  The area to the lower right is the Aramco Plant.  Is that where the missiles struck?  (Remember that no casualties were reported.)  If so, 12 - 19 cruise missiles/drones flew over 1000 km and all hit their targets so precisely that they missed the residential areas about 1 km away.  Is this level of accuracy typical of N. Korean designed/Iranian built missiles?

Well they were reported to be drones. And certainly they can operate with pinpoint accuracy. And if missiles with GPS to guide them, why couldn't they be that accurate? It isn't just consumer electronics that get cheaper and more capable with the passing of time.

Flight path of many (if not most) cruise missiles can be programmed. With later models, it can be altered during flight as well. Assuming the WNW direction reference was correct, it would make sense to try and steer clear of the Gulf due to higher chances of detection (plus covering obvious tracks). Knowing where and how air defenses were positioned would have been factored in as well.

Not that i fully trust any media from any country, but the good American people should accept the fact that not all people in the world are believing everything.
