Yes, I've found Proctosedyl Ointment to be quite effective.

 

But, as the old saying goes, 'prevention is better than cure'. Increase intake of dietary fibre, easy on the spicy food and a daily round of kegels exercise works wonders.

It's a simple operation involving the use of a rubber band to tie off the hemorrhoid, so that it withers and dies. The residue and rubber band then drop off.

You can also get Proctosedyl suppositories from the chemist. I haven't tried them (false alarm ????). But a couple of years back got suppositories from the hospial and they worked a treat - 3 days and gone.
