They would have to alter by thousands of % before I would even be interested.

They had a program on UK BBC1 the other day A consumer program called Rip off Brittan. This one was about people not getting the distance advertised on their electric cars. They hired one and tested it. Hot day so they had the A/C on but they got under 140 miles around 200km on one charge. That was with 1 person driving not loaded. Pore to say the least.

Now let me think. When I do my next long drive of 1000+KM that I'll be doing in a few weeks. I would only have to stop off and charge it 5/6 times, sounds great to me. Now where's the local charging points anyone know??? Then again I might just stop once for about 5 min: and put Diesel in it.

Sorry about putting an almost identical post in. Buy when I put the first one in I got an error 503 and it didn't post. So several hours later I put a similar one in. That one went in fine. Then I noticed that a few hours after that the first one decided to rear it's head. Well done TVF.

I would buy an electric bike for sure, if they ever arrive in LOS with decent KW rating to make them quick enuf. They beat all comers at Pikes Peak - seriously quick instant power. Max torque right off 'idle'

And an EV car also, once the prices come down.

We live 20Km from CNX city and range would not be a problem.

But for long distance cruising, until the infrastructure is in place, not many places in the world are geared up for it.

Once it is in place, I will have long ago contributed to the smog problem

So many great EV options out there, many competitively prices, the Koreans (Kia/Hyundai) are doing great, but unless the Thai government decides to drop the taxes and possibly even offer subsidies (God forbid), they can’t compete with the locally made and subsidised petrol and diesel equivalents.

The MG ZS EV is the only half decent offering because it came in ‘tax free’ at 1.19 million baht. Still saying this, the price for the same car in the UK sells at 825,000 baht (after discounts and subsidies).

So we still get ripped off, just less than normal.

I think you being a little unfair with your UK price comparison:

There's only one version of the MG being sold in Thailand and it's the top model. The top model in the UK is actually 882,000 baht. And when the UK's initial £3500 (131,000 baht) discount ends, the UK price will rise to 1,013,000 baht.

That's pretty close to the Thai price of 1,190,000 baht.

Ah ok, didn’t realise what was being sold here was the top model. Nevertheless I guess I have to ask why is there an extra near on 18% increase in price between the UK and here if there is a free trade agreement between China and Thailand? And what happens to that 177k baht?

Anyhow I am actually quite happy with the MG on paper, for the price is quite competitive. Decent warranty on it also.

Although if the new Tesla factory in China start making the model Y in RHD configuration, and they have a tax free import deal, this will be much much better tech. However they will have to make an official service centres first, otherwise the warranty will be useless.
