I can do all that in Philippines with no frustration and (much) less cost.

Good that you still feel the need to come on here too see what you are missing

What you doing for the rest of the day now that little highlight is over?

  • I agree with you but the UK is like the tropic for us Canadian. I spent one "winter" in Liverpool and only needed my spring jacket.

Good day today.

Hit the links Pattaya CC early finished in 3 hours shot 84.

Back to my room took a nap.

Soi 13/2 massage 20 year old fresh from Loei no English just like I like. ????

Had some lunch.

Met a buddy for some coffee.

Relaxing at my room will hit the gym later for a lite workout.

Pretty typical day.

Not much to complain about.  Why?

Standing upright and staying active/enjoying.

Life is good here.

No website such PhilippinesVisa because a blind retard can sort out 3 year stay without leaving the country.

No issues, no parole 90 day reporting, no sleeping in different house reporting, no refusals of entry for no reason. And when you go immi to extend visa they smile and are polite.

In my last job, I used to fly into Manila or Cebu fairly regularly, at least a couple of times each month, last visit on business was 4 years ago.  Never was much enamoured with the place.

Agree with that. Manila and Cebu are cities for people who need job, not for what you described in the first post.

For that they have hundreds other cities and islands.

Played 9 holes, hit off at 6.30 am. Shot 38, back to the condo for a quick shower. Tried educating Nyezhov on the glories of Australian Rules football, that wasted the rest of the morning. Swim in the condo pool before lunch. A good quality spaghetti marinara, 150 baht. My GF was feeling playful in the afternoon, then I had a nap. Going for a swim shortly. Dinner of smoked salmon, mashed potato, carrot and beans. A whisky or two beforehand. It's been a good day.

A cup of coffee and a egg salad ? clearly the prozac is working. Personally the 4ft nothing 2 fried eggs dark girls That I used to find entertaining have lost my interest. I need to be around east European 6ft tall double Dcup viking chicks again.. not long now

I'd suggest you might find the viking chicks a tad more expensive. I love my 4 ft nothing Thai GF, because she is as light as a feather on me. A viking will probably have you feeling like a tube of toothpaste.

I believe this to be correct.

Once you stay within the confines of your own property, things are pretty good. There is of course the internet and electric going off if it's too hot, too cold, rainy, windy etc., but overall life is good.

For me, it's when I have to venture out to work or to the shops. Then I get to experience the real people of Thailand and their terrible driving and inconsiderate behavior. ???? Do not get me started on those barstewarts at immigration once a year.

Once back home, all is good in the world of thequietman, at least until I need to leave the compound again.

Billy Connolly said it best - 'Thailand is a great country - it just needs a population transplant.' ????

Got up at 6:30 this morning.  Sun was shinning, birds happy to see a little sun instead of the torrential rains of the last few days.  Swimming pool so inviting with just a slight chill to the water. Coffee by the pool and a 5 minute boiled egg salad. And the memory of a phone call with my UK based kids, who told me that they are gearing up for a harsh winter in that soulless place. It's sometimes frustrating to live here and put up with some of the <deleted> that goes with it, but boy, it is still a great place to retire.

What a wonderful post. Thanks!

And let's not forget that frustrations also happen in other places. They are likely other frustrations but still frustrating.

And then there are many places in this world where it's not only frustrating but dangerous, people have no work, no food, and extreme weather.

It's nice to be here and enjoy life.

Not really a tough crowd, just a few bitter old men, who have made lots of wrong decisions in their lives and wouldn't be happy anywhere.  Leave them to stew in their own unhappiness.  A small part of the reason for posting this morning was to hack them off.

Well that too. Ones outlook on life is clearly based on ones choices. The usual suspects always chime in. ????

Yes, but your eggs for the salad have feathers.

If you ask me, what OP describes could be any country with a (sub)tropical climate....

Agreed, (and not knocking Thailand with my response).

I got up at 4.45 this morning to the sound of the Buddhist chants and drums from the temple in whose grounds my house is.  Went for a 3.5 Km jog around the old town, running along by the side of the Kham river until it joined with the mighty Mekong. The weather was warm, not too hot.

As the sun rose, I stopped off at a French cafe for freshly-baked bread and coffee from the plantations on the high Bolivan Plateau.

Then back home to do some online Science lessons for my students in the USA and China, before relaxing in the hammock on the balcony of my old hardwood house.

No cars to speak of, no barking dogs, and definitely no-one uttering 'farang,' (or 'falang'). No 90 day reports, no money needed in the bank, no TM30 and a one-year visa with work permit for $600.

Moving from Thailand to Luang Prabang was IMHO, a smart move ????  It's as good as Thailand, and better.

For me it was a trip to Tesco with my three year old and six year old (with helmets) on a bike though light traffic. Then wandering around the shop getting essentials for a trip to see the in laws in Loei all next week. Lots of smiling Thais looking at us and (from their perspective)  wondering about granddad with his grandkids! The three year old gabbing in English that she is finally starting to speak with some fluency. Then a swim in a refreshing pool, tomatoes and eggy bread and an hour perusing Thaivisa. Pleasant.

It's been home to me since I was just out of my teens.

You would need to be one to choose to stay there.

On a more serious note I couldnt be more happy for you. Spread the word and make sure all your mates end up there too. Be a shame if they missed out.

Yeah i will admit that Thailand still ranks in my top 3 of favorite countries in Asia.

You will be surprised, but here is a secret - not everyone requires prostitutes to have company

Thank you. Any other pejoratives you want to add to enhance your miserable life behind a keyboard?

a very wild guess is that laos has karaoke bars just like every asian country i know of, and likely small shacks in the evening offering 'massage'

Contrary to other comments, my willy certainly hasn't shriveled up, (not with the testosterone and fitness regime that I follow).  There are plenty of discrete karaoke bars and 'shacks' on the edge of town where I used to indulge when I lived here 6 years before.

Nowadays, (as others have commented), there is more to life than shagging hookers.  I have plenty of female company ==> Lao friends. I don't P4P because, well - been there, done that, it's boring and predictable.
