North Thailand border crossings

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a multiple entry visa based on marriage and need to do a border crossing.

Is there any border crossings that are around 300k from Chiang Mai?

Looking for a change and bored with Mae Sai.

Thanks

Mae Sot is closer to 350kms but If you are not driving can get there in comfort With Green Bus and even fly with Wisdom Air but not daily so check their schedule.

i did mae sot a couple of years ago by car with some mates.

over the bridge and back in a few minutes, all very easy.

a nice change from mae sai.

has anyone done chang khong recently,

would be interested to hear how it went.

Mae Sai - 257 kms from the middle of town. 500 baht or US$10 to enter Myanmar. You get a day pass but you can simply turn around once you're stamped and re-enter Thailand.

What's the difference between Mae Sot and Mae Sai because both are going into Myanmar border, just curious.

Chiang Khong, 290 km from Chiang Mai.

Is there a direct bus from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong without stopping at Chiang Rai?

Not Chiang Rai.  Most Chiang Khong buses stop in Phayao, not Chiang Rai.
