Biometrics has netted many overstayers

The chief of Thailand’s immigration police says the biometrics system in place at sixteen airports across the country has so far netted 1,000 people who are blacklisted or on watch lists, 700 who have arrest warrants out for them, and 45,000 who have overstayed in the country.

The Nation reports that the system is also used to detect fake passports as it uses UV and infrared light to compare the information stored in a chip in the passport with facial features.

It’s understood that in just three days, police were able to arrest 8,000 people for being in possession of fake passports, illegal immigration, overstaying their visas or criminals with arrest warrants out for their capture.

I will believe that when I see the 8000 faces on a plastic sheet with a few hundred Immigration Police in front of it....

45k overstay...8k fake passports..

I have no way of knowing for sure...but I'm guessing some overt exaggeration is in play here...

You think?   ????

Duplicate of a thread already in the news section. I don't buy their propaganda, their numbers are laughable and don't even add up.

I'm curious when they will - once again - claim that they've caught all of the overstayers. Only to find tens of thousands more when the next round of hyped gadgets arrives.

This is just more BS from the new immigration chief.

Only last year BIG Joke said there were no more over stayers, as he had already got them all.

So the question is, who has been telling the truth?

Answer nobody, as they are all BS merchants.

No, of course they're both telling the truth, how could anyone think differently?

Big Joke got rid of all the overstayers.

The new boss has caught those tens of thousands of pesky foreigners who have slipped into Thailand since.

Just goes to prove how the RTP have to be so vigilant in tracking them, especially with their 'new improved' TM30 tracking tool.
