Recommend shop for Brother printer repair Tucom

My Brother DCP1510 has just developed this chronic rattle when I try to scan, was working fine up to now. It gives a message "unable to scan" so I guess it needs some kind of repair. Anyone know of a decent repair shop for printers in Tucom?

Having owned several printers, I think you will find it hard to find anyone to repair this and for the repair to last!!   As you can purchase a printer / scanner for just a few thousand baht, do you want to waste money on a bodge repair.

Having said that, have a look yourself, it is most likley the cog fitted to a rubber band  that has a problem.

I suspect you would be best to go to Brother for repair - things these days have parts replaced rather than fixed so maker would be the most likely to have required parts and experience.

I agree they are cheap enough, around 3000 baht for a new one, but I really hate adding to the landfill if I can help it. Had a look but can't see anywhere to remove the glass screen to access scanner.

Took it there a couple of days ago, they rang me a few hours later and told me it would cost 2800 Baht to repair. A new one is just under 3000 baht, so what do you think my choice would be?

Good choice.  Indeed it is not worth repairing cheaper equipment anymore (and that includes TV and phone) but thought it was more expensive being laser.  Seems they are way down in price these days also.

I've had it for 4 years so I suppose not a bad run for a cheap printer. It's an indictment on our consumer society though that it's cheaper to buy new rather than repair. There's a lot of plastic in a printer, I can only hope that the repair shop (I told them to keep it) disposes of it responsibly.

Fixed for 100 baht and providing great service to a family member.

What was fixed, where, and what was the problem? Not very clear.

He,s saying they "conned" you about the price of repair hoping you would leave it with them (which you did) they then repaired it (simple repair 100 baht) and passed it on to a family member....OK now understand

Avoid adding to the landfill by just chucking it in the river.

Possibly, no way of telling, but maybe Brother makes the replacement parts so expensive that you have no choice other than to buy a new one. I had a Lexmark in Australia that only cost $50, but the replacement ink cartridges cost as much as the printer.
