Embattled Palang Pracharat MP for Ratchaburi province, Ms. Pareena Kraikupt, is fighting back and has asked the Royal Forest Department to conduct a second land survey of her poultry farm, which was found to have encroached on national forest reserves in Chom Bung district of Ratchaburi province.

Royal Forest Department director-general Mr. Atthapol Charoenchansa said today (Tuesday) that he had received a letter from Ms. Pareena, addressed to him and the secretary-general of the Land Reform for Agriculture Office, seeking another survey, claiming that she acquired the land in question honestly over a decade ago.

The first survey, undertaken by officials of the Royal Forest Department, found out that 2.76 hectares of the 44.22 hectare plot, claimed by the MP, are located on national forest reserves and the rest is Sor Por Kor (land reform) land.

Are we hoping for a round of wais and baskets of useless gods as an apology?

Something tells me if it does not go that way the new survey might go the other way and more land will be deemed to be encroached on the public lands.

The national parks seem not to have been surveyed since the introduction of GPS surveys and a lot of people are getting rude shocks as to where the actual boundaries lie. The old near enough is good enough standard has been shown to be very subjective.

yeh, like all officials in kanchanaburi also!

My family is the only family not with gov ties thats actually bought land where we are. People just expect it regardless, its thailand..

Shhhhh! Many people have said that and later found (after some connected person wanted the land) it all of a sudden becomes not real documents and its all gone. Had a beautiful ***** hotel in Trang which had been there for years, its now rubble.

She may well be honest, conned into buying dodgy land, would be interesting to know if she has papers for the land and who issued them and signed off on it.

have to wonder what she has offered to them to redo their evaluation, from the pics released the other day  you can clearly see where she has encroached into the forest, its very obvious. Anything to avoid fines/jail time and the loss of her govt job as well as her land/business

GPS survey gear is less accurrate than conventional survey equipment.Boundaries can be defined by occupation as well as Deposited plans.
