Hi Samui-ites, in the beginning of July my wife, daughter, in-laws and I will be spending a few days on the beautiful island.

Does anyone want to offer an opinion on what we should do?

I am thinking we will rent a couple of motorcy and have look around during the days, a few drinks and some seafood during the night.

Being my first time I am hoping someone will help me plan/find out what to do that is not in the normal tourist route.

PM me if you do not want to make yourself known.

Cheers

tukyleith and his family.

Views: 132  baang po seafood restaurant, baang po.

go through maenaam towards nathon, about 1/4 mile before the hill over the cape that takes you down and into nathon you will come to it ,its on the beach, and its good.authentic thai food and authentic thai service....very slooooooow.

uncle nois restaurant maenaam....good thai and seafood.

the food at zazen bungalows,bo phut...good thai dishes but catering more for the western palate.

the noodles at the restaurant on the seafront in nathon, come off the boat jetty and go right about 100 yds.just dont get into conversation with the singaporean owner,he will talk you to death.

gingpagarang seafood,on the beach near baang pang ka, brings new meaning to the words rustic and laid back, fabulous view and great food, the best on the island i think, should be a "must" for the "atmosphere" alone.unchanged in any way for about 25 years . the menu makes a good read too, havent seen that kind of english since the bungalow days of the 80"s.

its a very strange place, the staff especially so,some people we took there found it spooky, but for a slow lunch with a fabulous view, especially if there is a storm coming in,its unbeatable.take your camera.service as slow as it gets.

lots of touristy places too, with good food, but you feel as if you are in spain or italy or florida.

big johns seafood not far from nathon have live music, food not the greatest but good fish and chips uk style. outdoor beach atmosphere. very popular with visitors.

WILL WAIT RESTAURANT IN NATHON WILL CHARGE FALANGS MORE THAN THAIS FOR THE SAME DISH !!!!!

enjoy.

Agreed Tuky, you don't want to put your lovely daughter at risk with the terrible traffic on Samui, at one point they averaged one accident fatality per day. One Suzuki jeep should do you, unless your in laws don't want to travel with you :o .

Don't stay in Chaweng, very touristy, very developed, they even have a Starbucks. I like the northern side; Big Buddha, Mae Nam, Bo Phut.

What to do, thats a tough one, my sister went there with her 6 year old and had a blast but I think your baby may be a bit too young to enjoy the monkey show etc. My husband and I drove our truck around the island, just kind of explored. The waterfalls can be beautiful but don't expect alot of water in them this time of year, the scenery is nice though. You might try PM-ing boo or elfe as they would know more about it than me.

Have fun!

I was also thinking perhaps my family and yours could perhaps enjoy a meal together. Any takers?

Not a drinking session, but a nice meal.
